It’s Officially Ours!

We just picked up the keys to the new house! The movers will be bringing our stuff on Saturday, so it’ll be two more days until we move in, but it’s almost here! Woohoo!

Papers are Signed!

We signed the papers on our new house tonight! We also had our new home orientation and walkthrough today, and tagged a bunch of things for the builder to fix before we move in. So we’re on track to close on Thursday and move in Saturday. We got to see all the floors uncovered today for the first time, and it looks great – so happy with how everything turned out.

We had a really nice weekend. We finally got to see The Avengers, which was funnier than I expected. Overall, it was a fun time. For Mother’s Day, we took my mom to Half Moon Bay, did a little shopping at the farmer’s market there, and had a nice picnic lunch on the beach. It was a nice, relaxing outing, and my mom really seemed to enjoy it.

I’m still doing okay – the nausea is really kicking in, but that’s a good sign, so I can’t complain too much. Our next ultrasound isn’t until next Monday, so we’re just hanging in until then. I’m allowing myself to actually think of this as a possibility, that it might finally be happening, but it’s still pretty nerve-wracking and scary. And the further along we get, the scarier it gets. But it’s worth it, I hope.

And measuring right on track. We had our ultrasound today, and boy, was it a beautiful sight to see the yolk sac and the little tiny fetus with the white flicker that is the heartbeat. It’s a big hurdle to overcome, although we still have a long ways to go. For today though, we’re enjoying the news. I’ve got more to post, but right now, I’m exhausted and ready for bed!

Two More Weeks

The other morning, Marc was stumbling over the dogs and I in his way to get into the bathroom. He stopped and closed his eyes and said, “Two more weeks. Two more weeks.” I turned and said to him, “Just remember what Kelly [Clarkson] says. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Marc just glared at me. “Shut up.”

Saturday, we went up to look at the house. The paint on the outside is done, and there’s landscaping in the front. Kitchen appliances are in, and we have a fence. No carpet yet, which seems to be the last item left. It’s almost done!

As for me, things are still okay, as far as we know. Our ultrasound is scheduled for Tuesday, so that will be the moment of truth. I had a little scare on Thursday, when I had a little bit of spotting, but it seems to have stopped. Last time I miscarried, I had spotting that started at this exact same point in time, so obviously I was really freaked out this time. The progesterone suppositories I take can cause irritation that leads to bleeding, so I’m hoping that’s just what happened.

The good news is that I’m starting to feel nauseous, and I have a funny taste in my mouth most of the time. So I need to enjoy food now, while I still can.

This is What Happens When the Kids Move Out

A while ago, we were at my parents’ house after work, and my mom was busy in the kitchen preparing a tray with two little plates on it. I asked her what she was doing, and she said it was dinner for her and Dad. I asked what was with the tray, and she said that they eat dinner in their room now.

Tonight my mom cooked a nice dinner for all of us. Marc and I ate on TV trays from our house (because my parents’ kitchen table is now a computer table, of course), and my parents took their dinners upstairs.

I poked my head in their room to ask them a question, and my mom is sitting there, with her plate on the bed, eating. It was like something out of Grey Gardens.

I’m not sure whether to laugh or be horrified. I won’t worry until they start cooking food on a hot plate in their room.

My Mom Packed a Lunch for Me

So, my mom packed lunches for Marc and I this morning. It’s pretty darn cute.

It’s basically a little kit she put together for making Chinese eggrolls – kind of like mushu pork and pancakes. No plum sauce though, so I’ll have to give this only 4 stars out of 5.

Marc and I are slowly getting settled into my parents’ house, although 3 weeks can’t be up soon enough! In the meantime, I’m having a little fun with our living situation.

Marc was taking a shower the other morning, and he left the door unlocked. So I went in there, and said, “Hey Bon?” in my best impression of my mom (which, frighteningly enough, comes pretty easily to me). Marc quickly said, “It’s me!” I didn’t reply and instead started to open the shower curtain. The look on Marc’s face as he yelled “Hey!” was pretty priceless. Hee hee.

We Have a Driveway!

Our house has a driveway!

The hardwood floors are also in, although most of it was covered in protective cardboard, so we couldn’t really get a good look at it. This was the biggest uncovered spot I could find. What we could see looks great.

They’ve also painted the staircase railing. We went with the upgraded two-tone (standard was all white), which I really, really like.

Still waiting on appliances and carpet – maybe next weekend!
