Hope everyone had a good 4th! My long weekend was pretty busy.

Marc and I had Bandit's sheep herding lesson after work on Friday. It was a good lesson, he really worked for me this time. We're thinking about trying to make it out to see a trial sometime, just to see how they're run.

I woke up early on Saturday to go look for cowboy boots for my riding lessons. I finally did find a pair that I really liked, although they were more than I was hoping to pay. I had my lesson that afternoon, and sadly, I'm still behind the rest of the class. I think I have body control issues and I think too much.

Marc picked me up from my lesson and we drove down to San Jose to have dinner with Melanie and her boyfriend Henry. We brought Bandit with us too, and he and Lucas got into a huge fight over a toy. So we had to put all the toys away, since they didn't know how to share. It was fun though, especially since we hadn't hung out with them for a while.

Sunday I got up fairly early again, and met up with a bunch of my girlfriends to go to the beach in Santa Cruz. We grabbed some sandwiches for lunch, went in the water for a bit, and sunbathed. I was trying to get rid of the horrible farmer's tan I have, but it's still not completely gone. I also got a horrendous sunburn, which is what the title of this blog refers to. I even got burned on my butt! All my clothes hurt right now, and it's really uncomfortable.

While I was at the beach, Marc went to an A's game with a friend of his, and managed to get sunburned as well.

We went to dinner with my family afterwards, and I had a ton of peking duck. I could literally make a whole meal out of that. During dinner, Marc and my dad started comparing notes on how I'm a lot like my mom, in all the annoying ways. I sat there, in the middle, looking unamused.

After dinner we went to the store to buy stuff for our 4th of July party. The grocery bill was piling up, so I opted not to buy chives for the baked potatoes. I don't think anyone noticed.

Monday morning was spent getting the house cleaned (there wasn't too much to do, although I started cleaning my desk, stopped halfway and then forgot to finish, which was a bit embarassing when I was giving the tour), and buying last-minute things like ice.

People started arriving in the afternoon, and we barbequed, and when the sun went down we set off $140 worth of fireworks in front of our house. It was pretty windy, unfortunately, so we had to set up a makeshift barricade to block the wind, which worked okay. We had a big finale fountain, which cost $40 in itself, and had the "Maximum Powder Allowed by Law." It turned out to be worth the money.

All in all, it was a pretty good long weekend, although it didn't feel nearly long enough, as usual. At least it's a short work week!
