Ants!

Last night we discovered that we had an ant problem in our bed. Our bed! So we changed the sheets, but weren't able to find the source of the ants. I woke up in the middle of the night to find an ant crawling on my ear. The rest of the night was worse, I was waking up every few minutes to get some ant off of me. It was gross.

I don't know why there would be ants in our bed. Marc and I don't eat in bed. The only possibility could be that Bandit somehow dropped a crumb of food on our bed at some point. Marc ended up spraying some ant spray around the bed this morning, so hopefully that will solve the problem. I hate ants.

So, Buffalo trip. Like I said yesterday, pretty dead town. I arrived at the Buffalo airport, and it was nearly empty. I couldn't believe how few people there were on a Saturday afternoon.

While I was there, I went to the Anchor Bar, which is the restaurant that originated buffalo wings. I chickened out and got mild wings, although I think medium would've been better because the mild weren't spicy at all. They were really good though, probably the best buffalo wings I've ever had. I also bought a t-shirt from there that had a little girl surrounded by flying buffalos and she's saying, "I didn't know buffalos had wings!"

One day, when I was walking back to my hotel, some guy on the street told me I had "the cutest booty" he'd ever seen. I would've laughed if I wasn't trying so hard to ignore him.

Part of the course was a dinner on Thursday night at this restaurant on top of Niagara Falls. They had a charter bus take us there, and I swear, our driver gave the most depressing tour ever. All he talked about was how dead the area is, and how everyone loves Canada more than New York.

I did have a weird encounter with one of my classmates. One of the days I was there, this 30-something year old Chinese guy comes up to me and asks, "Are you Chinese?" Just like that. No "hi, how are you?" or anything. I said yes, and he said, "okay" and walked away. At that point the woman I had been talking with told me that they had been talking on the bus about me and the guy didn't think I was Chinese.

Anyways, so that wasn't really the weird part. The guy seemed intent on talking to me during the week, and then Thursday night, after dinner, was the weird part. We didn't get back to our hotel until after 11 pm. I was packing before going to bed, and my phone rings, and it's that guy! He actually called me at my room, seemingly just to BS. The guy was married too. I talked to him for about 10 minutes before finally saying, "Well, I have to pack, I'll talk to you tomorrow." It was all very weird.

I did get to visit my Aunt Julia, who lives in Rochester, while I was there. She drove me around town a bit, and then we had dinner. We had some crazy thunderstorms while I was at her house. She makes jewelry, and she showed me all her equipment, which was way hardcore. She even has a website - www.juliatan.com.

Anyways, I think that pretty much sums up my trip. More to catch up on later.
