Super Bowl/Puppy Bowl

I finally got around to taking some pictures of the fish tank - the pictures still aren't very good (they're too blue, but that has to do in part because of our lights), but they're getting better. I uploaded some to the photo gallery here.

My little nano cube at work is doing okay so far, although I've already lost one fish. I just came in to work one morning and it was stuck on the intake. But I've got a handful of corals in there that seem to be doing well, as well as an emerald crab, a few snails, and a new teeny tiny yellow clown goby. He's a bit skinny though, so we'll see how he does. The album for this tank is here.

Work is a little more quiet this week, although I'm still pretty busy. But I've at least got a little time to blog now. We were busy this weekend too. Friday after work we went to babysit Jacob and Allison. I guess Jacob was counting down the days until Friday, which was pretty cute. We took them out for pizza and ice cream. They're both just too cute.

Saturday morning we adopted out Pepper, our little torti kitten to a nice young couple. Then we brought Lucy and Callie to Petsmart for the adoption fair. They'd only been there about 15 minutes before we got the call that Lucy was getting adopted! We were a little sad not to be able to say goodbye, but I'm glad she's got a nice home now.

Callie was pretty pissed off about being in the cage. One lady did come and spend 3 hours with her, but wants to see how she is when she's less cranky. So we'll see, hopefully we can get Callie adopted out too. So far we've rehomed 7 cats!

I drove to Hayward after lunch for a frag swap for the coral reefing club we belong too. It was the Feb. 11 swap. Well, Saturday was the 4th. NEXT Saturday is the 11th. I got there, and couldn't figure out why there were no cars. It took a few seconds for it to dawn on me. I must have seen the date a hundred times, but somehow I was convinced it was this past weekend. I'm an idiot.

In the afternoon, Marc and I went to Best Buy to look at TVs. We've been talking about getting a flat-panel HDTV for a while, and we ended up buying a 32" Sony LCD. We wanted to go bigger, but this was the max that would fit in our TV cubby downstairs. We figure when we move to a new house, this one will go in our bedroom. Best Buy also gave us a free mini drink fridge! Hahaha.

We went to dinner for Elaine's birthday at Three Seasons in Palo Alto. Pretty good food, and we managed to ring up a pretty good bill, hehe. I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol too, apparently, because I had one Tsunami and I couldn't focus my eyes for the rest of the evening. We stopped by a bar/club after dinner, and I think I had a quarter of an Amaretto Sour, and the next morning I totally woke up with a headache.

Sunday morning we went to my work - I picked up my new fish and got him in the tank, and also did some work on the new robot.

Kenny came over to watch the Super Bowl - which over all was pretty boring, and full of bad officiating. And I totally forgot about the Puppy Bowl (best counter programming idea ever)! I didn't remember until we saw the rerun in the evening. This year they even had a kitty half-time show, which was ADORABLE.

There were a handful of good commercials this year. My favorites are always the Budweiser ones with the Clydesdales. The sheep streaking one was hilarious, and the one with the baby Clydesdale pulling the carriage made me cry a little, haha. The commercials are all here.
