So, remember how I haven't seen our yellow watchman goby for at least 2 weeks now, and I was sure that he died under a rock somewhere and got eaten up by all the scavengers in the tank?
Well, turns out I was wrong.
Marc and I were doing a water change on the tank last night, and I was cleaning out the overflow box - that's the box that straddles the rear of the tank at the top:
Water basically flows from the chamber inside the tank, through the upside-down u-tube, and into the outside chamber where it then gravity-feeds into our sump.
Well, I was trying to stir up the outside compartment to get some of the gunk that was in there down into the sump - and I noticed a large something in there. Looking at it closer, I realized it was the goby!
He looked dead. I told Marc, "Ack, I think I found the goby's body." Then I started thinking about how it should've been more decayed after 2 weeks. And I felt bad because I checked the overflow before, but obviously not well enough, and if I'd checked it better, I could've found him before he died.
So I poked him.
And he moved.
10 minutes later, I finally managed to squeeze my hand in there and grab him and return him to the main part of the tank. He was very much alive! And surprisingly not that skinny. I think he must have been munching on the food that was getting pulled into the overflow.
How he got in there, I don't know. He must have jumped into the inner compartment (and somehow NOT jumped out of the tank entirely), then swam through the u-tube to get to the outer compartment. I have a suspicion that Dory had been harrassing him so much, that he finally decided he needed to get away. Gobies are notorious for jumping, but he'd never done that in the whole year we'd had him.
And here I was starting to think of fish to replace him with!
Rest of the Weekend
On Thursday the DirecTV guy finally showed up at 4, and was at our house until 8:30. It was an ordeal, but we now have HD! Woohoo!
Saturday and Sunday we were up in Elk Grove selling furniture and stuff from the house. We were pretty disorganized on Saturday, because we weren't able to get up there very long before the sale started, and people showed up promptly at 10 am. So the garage was a bit of a mess.
It was amazing though - people wanted to buy EVERYTHING. Even though it was a mess in there, they just waded through it all. There were things I'd never even thought about selling - like half-full bottles of cleaner and whatnot, that people were buying. One couple gave me $17, and all they bought was a bunch of cleaners, some books, and a pair of cutting shears.
We sold tons of stuff, including most of the furniture (the big things were the bedroom sets, and we managed to sell both!). One guy came for two couches and ended up taking the big entertainment center as well. It was pretty chaotic on Saturday, with just this huge crush of people that showed up all at once. There were 4 of us there, but it was still hard to keep up with everything. There was one family that bought LOTS of stuff.
Sunday was much slower, but we did sell a bedroom set to this lady who lived just a couple doors down. So we helped move most of it to her house that day.
Saturday night I also went and picked up a few frags for the fish tank. Got some really nice SPS corals that I hope will do okay.
Okay, I think I've written enough! Hope you all had a good weekend.

Yay! I'm glad you were able to sell a good amount of things. :)
Is the overflow box the clearish-looking box outside the tank, or the black thing inside the tank? And is that a real cat head or a cat-head-shaped tank decoration? :)
The overflow box is actually both parts - I found him in the clear section on the outside of the tank! (We actually have a different box now, but it's basically the same.)
And that's a real cat head - that's Stubby peeking over. :)
