Fun with Macro

| | Comments (1)

I finally got a chance yesterday to really play around with my new macro lens (Canon EF 100mm/f2.8, bought off of eBay). One thing is for sure, I need my tripod for this thing - all my handheld shots turned out blurry. A remote shutter release might not be a bad idea either.

I also learned about a useful tool in photographing aquaria - white balance! Since I'm running 20K metal halide over our tank, all of my aquarium shots have turned out very blue. I finally learned how to adjust the white balance, and these new photos turned out a lot better, I think.

So I uploaded a bunch of new photos to the Gallery, under the album "70 Gallon Salt Water Aquarium." Most of the photos on the first page are ones I took before - you can see how blue they are. I got some new full-tank shots, which I haven't taken in a while (please excuse the dirty sand).

Fun!
