Weekend

We got to sleep in Saturday morning, because Bandit's herding lesson was cancelled. In the afternoon, we went to go buy a new protein skimmer for the future tank (I found a really good deal on a used skimmer). Then we went to my aunt's house to help them set up their wireless DSL. After that we met my parents and my brothers at Outback for dinner.

Our Sunday was a little more interesting. Here's an approximate timeline:

5:01 am: Something wakes me up. It turns out to be Snuggles, who is rubbing her butt on my hand. She is purring.

5:02 am: Half asleep, I turn her around to see if her butt is clean or not. It is not. I fall back asleep.

5:05 am: I realize that we left the TV on all night. I turn it off. My hand is butt free.

6:35 am: I finally wake up and start getting ready - Marc and I are going to San Jose to walk the 10k run/walk hosted by the Mercury News. We're meeting some of my coworkers there.

7:35 am: We leave the house.

8:05 am: I'm just dozing off in the car, when I hear Marc say, "oh crap." There's a motorcycle cop on the side of the freeway, and Marc is zipping along doing 84. He pulls over before the cop barely has a chance to put his lights on. The cop looks like he's trying to stifle a laugh as he says, "I'm guessing you know why I pulled you over." However, his sense of humor apparently only goes so far, as he gives Marc a ticket. Marc doesn't even try to talk his way out of this one.

8:40 am: We finally arrive at San Jose, but we've missed the start of the 10k race. One of my coworkers, Peter, is still there, so the three of us end up doing the 5k walk. Which was probably a better idea anyways.

9:49 am: I finish the 5k walk in 59 minutes. Marc finishes a few seconds ahead of me, because he decides to run the last 20 feet. He runs through the finish with his hands waving in the air, and the announcer actually calls out his name.

10:50 am: Marc and I have dim sum for lunch, drop by my parents' house to check our their newly remodeled kitchen, chat with my dad and Kenny for a while, and head home.

1:05 pm: Marc and I take a nap.

6:10 pm: Marc and I wake up.

So that was pretty much our weekend. Our new clownfish is still doing well, and he hangs out in or near the anemones pretty much all the time. I'm really amazed at how quickly the two clownfish have bonded - it was like love at first sight! I hope I can get them to start spawning, as I would love to try my hand at rearing baby clowns.

Is five hours still considered a "nap"?

I wish you had video of Marc's final race moments!

Hee!
