House Hunting

This weekend we did a bunch of stuff around the house and even got a chance to look for our next house.

Marc did a really nice job cleaning up the backyard - he cut down all the grass and then laid down a bunch of bark to make it look cleaner. We got a little bistro set from Home Depot - Bandit was barking at the umbrella when he first saw it.

My brothers came over Saturday night and helped us move one of the couches and a couple TV's into the garage (which is such a mess now). We bought some wall art too, as now that we've moved so much stuff out, the walls seem a bit bare. The house looks pretty nice now, I think.

Sunday we went to look at some houses with our realtors. It was pretty fun, actually. We went to one house that was pretty big, and seemed like it had good potential. But the backyard was weird! I mean, it was really nice, but they had a spa out on the patio, and they had built a little wooden spa house around it, that had sliding doors that would close. The weirdest thing? There was a big 'ol mirror right next to the spa. I don't even WANT to know.

But the house didn't have air conditioning, and there were a lot of things that would need fixing, so we crossed it off our list. There was another house we saw in the San Ramon hills, that had an awesome backyard, nice view, and was in a really nice neighborhood, but the house wasn't too great. It was a bit cramped and small, which was a real shame.

There was another house we went to where the owner answered the door, and then promptly disappeared. I mean, we couldn't find her.

We drove through one neighborhood that was a little sketchy, and all had a good laugh at one guy who was literally building a tall brick wall in front of his front porch.

Then there was this one realtor that was showing an open house who wouldn't stop talking. The house didn't have that great of a layout, and he kept talking about changes (big ones) that we could make to make it better. He really wouldn't shut up, and one of our realtors actually started walking out the door (while pretending to examine things on the way out) while this guy was talking, which was hilarious.

The last house we went to was really nice. It had tons of upgrades done, and they seemed to be done well. The living space was nicely laid out, and the backyard was great. The only caveat was that it wasn't any bigger than our current house in terms of square footage, but other than that, it was really cool.

In the meantime, our house goes on the market this Friday. Scary!
