Congratulations!

Woohoo! Congratulations to Cynthia and Steve, who got engaged over the weekend! Cynthia called me on Sunday while we were driving back from Santa Rosa - my phone was acting up, so it took about 3 tries before she could tell me the good news. Congrats to both of you guys, I'm so excited for you!

The rest of my weekend, was as usual, ridiculously busy. Between work and all the stuff going on in our personal lives, I think my head may explode. So if my mood sometimes seems sullen and introspective (although perhaps that is no different from the norm!), it's just because I'm a bit worn out right now.

Our weekend was busy, but fun. We did get to chill at home on Friday night - we watched part of King Kong on DVD. Saturday I got up early and took Bandit to go herding. Then I rushed home and Marc and I rushed down to Fremont to drop the dogs off at my parents' because we were having an open house that day. We quickly grabbed a bite to eat, and then our realtor came by to take us out to look at some houses.

In the meantime, they had another realtor come and sit for our open house. We got to chat with her for a few minutes, and she spied the copy of Bill Clinton's book on our mantle. That led into her telling us how she used to work on Clinton's personal presidential detail! Apparently she used to be an FBI agent. She told us a little bit about how the family would act in public versus how they'd act in private, which was interesting, though probably what you'd expect from most political families.

Anyways, it was pretty cool, I wish we could have chatted with her longer.

We looked at a bunch of homes, and saw a couple that we really liked, although I still haven't found one that I've totally fallen in love with. I think maybe I'm just expecting too much.

When we were done with looking at houses, we drove back down to Fremont for Allison's 3rd birthday. The theme was Dora the Explorer, and Marc and I had fun picking out a bunch of Dora gifts for her (and wrapping them all in Dora paper). Hard to believe she's 3 already!

After the party we met my brothers in Milpitas to watch MI:3, which was really good. Even with Tom Cruise and all the crazy (and hey look, it's Greg Grunberg in yet another J.J. Abrams project - go figure!).

Then we went home and went to bed way, way too late.

We got up early Sunday morning and loaded up Bandit and all the agility stuff into the car. We swung by Jan's place to pick up her dog Scuff, as I offered to get her measured at the trial. So with Scuff's crate in the car, poor Bandit only had a small space to lie down in. The trial was in Santa Rosa, and it took us about an hour and 20 minutes to get there. It was hot!

Bandit ran well, but he knocked over a jump bar in each of the courses, which was an automatic non-qualification. Neither was really his fault - one was from trying a move that we don't have a lot of practice in - he had to take a jump while I crossed behind him. He took the jump, but I think him losing sight of me was enough to cause himself to check in mid-air, and he caught part of the bar. The second one was my fault, because I called him too soon while he was jumping, and I think he tried to change direction in mid-air, causing him to hit the bar.

So that was kind of disappointing. But there's always next time!

Jan came by after we got back to pick up Scuff, and she ended up staying for dinner (Marc cooked a yummy London broil).

And now, sadly, it's Monday again.
