Weekend

I didn't get any work done on the fish tank stand, but it was kind of a hectic, busy weekend.

Friday night I took Bandit to go sheep herding as usual, and then Steve came over afterwards to hang out with us and play XBox 360 games.

Saturday we got up early because we were expecting people to come by to look at the kittens. One couple showed up, and adopted Shadow. I was pretty sad to see her go, because she was one of my favorites. There was another lady who had called me a few days ago and wanted to come by, then cancelled. She called me again and wanted to come by on Saturday, but she never showed and never called.

We took our two remaining unadopted kittens (Kuma and Turtle) to the Petsmart adoption faire. There were SO many kittens there. One of the fosters (who has done hundreds of adoptions) adopted a kitten out to this one lady and her kid, and I was a bit surprised that she did, because this lady didn't seem like she had a clue. She asked if there was anything she could feed the kitten to keep it from shedding, and then said, "well, it's still small, so the shedding shouldn't be so bad." I was thinking - well, what happens when it gets big? The foster did ask her, "are you SURE you want a cat?" The lady said yes, definitely. I don't know, I still would've been uneasy.

We didn't have any luck getting them adopted that day - I think there were just too many other ones there.

In the evening, we had a few friends over for a small barbecue/potluck. We ended up watching the last half of Cast Away on TV. The ending still sucks.

Sunday morning I had to get up semi-early again to take the kittens to yet another adoption faire. I dropped them off, and then Marc and I went to Home Depot to buy some more wood for the stand. I think we finally have all the wood we need.

I went back to the faire to help with adoptions. It was a really slow day. We were supposed to close up at 3, so I started cleaning cages and stuff, and left my two kittens in their cage just in case anyone stopped by. Shortly after 3, this guy showed up and was very interested in Turtle! I let him hold her for a bit, and he decided to adopt her! As a side note - he was pretty good looking, and I was tempted to ask him if he was single, to maybe hook him up with one of my friends, haha.

I do have his e-mail address - but maybe that would be too weird. ;)

Anyways, I was really glad to at least have found Turtle a home. Now all we have left is Kuma, so I hope I can find her a home before Jack and Oscar go to their new one. Otherwise she's going to be lonely!

Alright, time to go home!
