More Weekend Fun

Thanks to all the chaos on Saturday, Marc forgot to make his football pool picks! He was in third or fourth place overall, and the grand prize is over $1200. Because he lost all his points for this week, it basically puts him out of the running for the pot. Sad.

Both the dogs also have seemed to come down with some sort of dermatitis or skin allergy. Bandit's is pretty minor, but Snoopy had some good-sized scabs on his rear. While the dogs don't seem to have fleas (we admittedly have lapsed on doing their Frontline), the vet suggested that even a flea or two could cause an allergic reaction. Snoopy also had a hot spot (a spot on the skin that the dog keeps licking and biting at, which eventually leads to a sore) on his tail. He had to go home with some medication, as well as a cone around his head. The cone was pretty funny, because he'd keep going up to Bandit to try to sniff his crotch, and he'd end up just pushing Bandit around all over the place with the cone. Poor Bandit finally resorted to hiding under the bed.

After the visit fee, the medication and shampoo fees, and two 6-month supplies of Frontline, the vet bill came out to be $334. Oy.

We're still trying to figure out what to do with our new stove. We went to Sears, where they suggested that we might try to contact an appliance repair shop to see if they can rig up a new gas line on the stove that wouldn't be in the way of the valve coming from the wall. On the bright side, we checked out the electric model, and I don't think we'd have any problem getting that to fit. The sales guy even said he'd try to talk to his managers for us to get us out of having to pay the restocking fee if we decided to exchange.

I finally finished up all the drywall in the fish room, so it's pretty much ready to be painted now. I just have to find the time! Talk about having too many projects.

I also broke down and bought a Nintendo Wii off of eBay. I paid more than retail, obviously, but surprisingly not that much more. It's hopefully going to arrive tomorrow. I can't wait to try it out, it sounds amazing. We definitely won't be buying a PS3 - way too expensive, and we just don't need it, especially when we already have the XBox.
