Running Out of Time

So much to do, so little time! The Christmas crunch is upon us, and I'm starting to feel the heat. I think we'll be okay though - we should be able to get the fish tank going, the cabinets done, and at least the family room floor put in before the holidays (we're hosting Christmas at our house this year).

I left work a bit early yesterday as usual to get to Bandit's agility class in time. On my way home though, I got a call from our instructor telling me that class was cancelled because it was raining in Livermore. D'oh! I'm hoping to go to tonight's class, barring any further rain.

So I got home a bit early, and worked on more plumbing instead. I also started clearing out the room so that we could finish painting the ceiling in the fish room.

When Marc got home from work, we went to Home Depot to buy hardware for all the cabinets. We bought new hinges, knobs, and drawer pulls. Holy crap that stuff is expensive. One lesson learned: if you're buying 23 knobs and hinges, it's much easier to go through a regular checkout where they can scan it once and multiply it by 23, rather than have two people scan 23 of each item through the self checkout. 'Cause yeah, that takes forever.

Marc and I painted the fish room ceiling when we got home. Not the world's best paint job by a long shot. It's a bit pathetic looking, really, but we don't really care because no one is ever going to go in that room but us. I'm only painting the room to get semi-gloss paint on the walls (for all the humidity).

Tonight's agenda will probably involve Marc working on painting the cabinet doors, and I'll probably work on mounting the bike pulley I bought to hang the fish tank lights from. The bike pulley will allow me to raise and lower the lights as I need to. I think I'm going to try to finish the light rack once and for all as well.

I need to get Christmas cards out too! We also need to finish hanging all our Christmas decorations this weekend AND get the tree up. Like I said, so much to do, so little time!

Seems like everyone I talk to has been surprised by "how fast" Christmas is coming upon us. In my opinion, it's because we had strangely good weather up here for so long -- so we were out doing fun things instead of staying inside wrapping presents and such!
