Well, the car buying process continues. We posted the Mazda up on craigslist to try to see if we could sell it on our own - most of the dealers were offering a nice price on the car, but they were subsequently not willing to discount the new cars as much.
Acura was calling Marc all day yesterday and today, improving their numbers a little bit each time. (Toyota has called too, although they're standing firm on their price. Lexus hasn't called at all, although their deal was probably the best to begin with.)
We've basically told Acura we want to try to sell the Mazda privately first, but they're getting pretty close on their offer. We'll see. We're both still torn about which car to even go with. I like the Lexus, but it's pretty darn pricey. There's a few features, like memory seats, rear backup camera, rear sunshade, that don't come in the Camry, and the overall quality of the interior materials is much better, but we're not sure if it's worth the extra money, especially combined with the gas advantages of the hybrid Camry.
The Camry Hybrid actually comes with some nice amenities - smart key entry, push button start, dual climate, etc. I guess the thing is that it's not as sexy as the other two, and of course, not quite as plush feeling.
So right now, our heads say Camry, our hearts say otherwise. Oh, we even tried the coin-flip thing, but since it came up Camry, I decreed that it was silly for us to decide a car purchase with a coin flip.
Seriously though, it really shouldn't be this hard to pick a car!
