Casualty

The cleaner wrasse went missing the day before yesterday. I looked around the tank, in the overflow, and all around the rocks, and couldn't find it. I thought that maybe it was just hiding, since it was a new fish.

Yesterday I still didn't see it swimming around, and after looking around a bit more, gave up and figured that either it was dead and not to be found, or that it might just show up again.

So right before bed, I was just sitting there looking at the tank, when I found the little bugger on the sandbed, right at the front of the tank. Poor thing.

I don't know how it died. It's possible that it was already not well, since we bought it from Aquarium Concepts (I don't like buying fish from there, but it was the only place I could find a cleaner wrasse). The other possibility was that it got sucked into the closed-loop pump system and went for a ride - I have screens over the intakes for the closed loop, but it's possible that the fish was small enough to squeeze through.

Whatever the case, I hate losing fish. We hadn't had one die on us for a long time (our last death was our other cleaner wrasse, and we had had him for a year and a half - the probable cause was the less-than-desirable conditions of my temporary tank).

Didn't do much last night since I had agility with Bandit (he had so much fun). I wore thermals this time, since last week I almost froze to death. After I got home, we ate dinner and then I worked around the tank again. I also started to clean up the old tank, because someone is going to come by and take a look at it tonight.

Sadly, I don't have much else to write about! I want to take pictures of the tank, but right now there's still so many microbubbles and bits floating around in there that all the pictures look crummy. Hopefully soon it'll be clear enough to take some nice shots.
