Stupid Office

| | Comments (2)

So my office has always been on the chilly side, mostly because the heater has never worked properly. I constantly have it bumped up to 80, and it never moves from 68. I bought a small space heater which helps, but the past couple days it has been absolutely freezing in my office.

I finally called the maintenance people to come and fix my heater once and for all, and the guy was able to make it better (although I don't think he was able to totally fix it). While he was rooting around in the ceiling, I noticed that the frame above one of my windows had fallen again!

When I first moved in this office, there had been a gap at the top of my window of about an inch, and it led directly outside. Literally, there was no glass or anything between my office and outside - I had bees and all sorts of bugs coming in. I had a maintenance guy put the frame back in place, but I guess it must have fallen again somehow.

Supposedly the window guys are going to come today and truly fix it. I hope so, because it's freezing outside. Kind of amazing that the window is built that way.

Anyways, we didn't do anything terribly exciting yesterday - came home and cooked dinner and watched the BCS Championship game, which was a bit lame. The BCS system really sucks. But, Cal finished #14 in the AP and Coaches polls, so that's a nice thing. Go Bears!

I can't believe that I totally forgot to mention what Marc got me for Christmas. We really weren't supposed to get each other presents, because we'd decided that the kitchen remodel was our present to each other, but we both broke that rule. Marc went way overboard too, because this is what he got me:

It's the Gateway 22" HD widescreen monitor. Has a 5 ms response time, and so far it's been awesome for gaming, I haven't noticed any ghosting at all.

Anyways, Marc says this is also doubling as a Valentine's and B-day present, which is fine by me, haha. I consider it romantic!

I got Marc the entire "West Wing" series on DVD, which was over budget as well, but not quite as bad as his gift. He's already watched a bunch of episodes, but refuses to watch Season 1 because he can't stand Moira Kelly. "Toe pick!" (The Cutting Edge, anyone? Haha).

Here's another fish that I'd love to have, it's called the Imperator (or Emperor) Angel:

The only problem is that not only does it get big, but that angels can sometimes be iffy around clams, and I'd like to keep a clam or two. I'm not sure I want to risk it. Also, these guys are pricey. But pretty!

Am I a total nerd that I consider that to be a romantic gift as well? Hee.

I got my brother a pretty cool widescreen LCD monitor too, but it's only 20" with 8ms response time, but it's still pretty sweet.

I want one for myself ... hee.

What do you want to bet that when V-day/B-day comes around, you'll get another present? ;-)
