Well I had plans to get a lot of things done this weekend, but unfortunately it doesn't feel like we really got all that much accomplished. Mostly, I blame the darn car shopping.
We still haven't bought a car, and it's getting frustrating. The thing that is mostly handcuffing us at this point is the Mazda. We just can't seem to get a decent amount on the trade-in for it. At this point, I'm pretty sure we can get the Acura TL-S for invoice, as long as we can find a way to sell the Mazda. We were trying to avoid having to go through the hassle of selling it privately, but it's looking like the way to go. We were both pretty bummed, because we really wanted a car this weekend.
Anyways, I did get to have a measure of fun by visiting some fish stores this weekend. We went to one place on Friday, and found a bunch of the fish that I've been looking for. They had some really nice blonde naso tangs, powder blue tangs, and even powder brown tangs, which looked much nicer in person that I'd expected.
Unfortunately, the guy at the store told us that none of them were really eating yet, so they weren't for sale. I think we can probably only put one more tang in the tank (maybe 2 if we sacrifice getting some other smaller fish), since a lot of tangs get big (Dory, in the wild or a large aquarium, would grow to about a foot long). I kind of had my heart set on the blonde naso, but I also really like the powder blue, and Marc seems to like that one better. The only problem is that they're not easy fish to keep.
Here's what the blonde naso looks like (the adult males get streamers on their tails):

And here's a powder blue:

And the powder brown:

Price-wise, the naso is about the most expensive, followed by the powder blue, and then the powder brown. Anyone have any votes as to a favorite?
I did manage to get some more equipment set up on the tank, although I never got around to setting up the water filtration system. Hopefully sometime this week. I did manage to sell off my baby anemone (the anemone I had split shortly before we moved, and the little 1" baby managed to survive in the temporary tank we had). The clowns only live in and feed the large anemone, so I really didn't want this little guy hanging around. Someone came and bought it for $20! I think this is the first time I've made any money from this hobby.
In hindsight, I probably should've sold Dory instead of moving her to the new tank. At her size and fatness, she probably would fetch $70-$80, about 3 times what we bought her for. I'm mostly joking of course, but she is a mean little bugger now. I had my hand in the tank the other day, moving some things around, and she swam right up alongside my hand and moved like she was about to give me a good whack with her tail. She actually touched me a few times (she even feels fat). There were a couple times when I had to quickly yank my hand out for fear of getting nailed with those tail spines. Doesn't she know who feeds her???
Kenny came over on Saturday night, and we went out to dinner and then rented Little Miss Sunshine. I wasn't sure what to expect, since indie flicks are kind of hit and miss with me, but it turned out to be hilarious. We all really enjoyed it.
I think that about covers the weekend - I need to work on pictures soon!

i like the powder blue! =)
Hahaha, Cynthia, why am I not surprised that you would pick the baby-blue colored fish? ;)
blue -> blonde -> brown
1) blue 2) brown 3) blond
