Happy Valentine's Day all! Marc sent me three dozen roses, which actually arrived at my office yesterday afternoon. He had sent me two dozen last year, but that was due to an error from the florist, so I told him he shouldn't have ramped up so quickly, because next year I'll expect four dozen! Turns out he bought my flowers through Costco, and they only sell a minimum of three dozen, haha! They're actually very nice, I don't even notice any difference from ones he's bought me before. :)
We're not planning on doing anything too special this year - we thought about going out for a nice dinner on a different day of the week (to avoid the crowds), but Marc is just going to cook me dinner tonight. Which is more than fine by me!
Growth!
So I have not-so-patiently been waiting to see any signs of growth on my corals. It's a bit of a futile effort, because these things grow so slowly, it's like watching grass grow.
I've just been taking pictures of them when I get them, and then taking pictures after a little while to compare (I know, this post is worthless without pictures, but I just haven't had time to upload any). So yesterday, I was looking at this one big coral (called a montipora capricornis) that I bought two weeks ago. It's nothing special - pretty much brown in color, but it's huge, and I bought it for really cheap. It's actually starting to show some green hues, so I'm hoping it will start to color up. Just by looking at it by eye, it looked like it had grown! So I took a picture, compared it to an old one from two weeks ago, and sure enough, it has grown quite a bit! And just in two weeks!
I'm so stoked, because in the old tank I could never get these things to even live, let alone grow. One of my other coral frags that I got a month ago has also shown some growth - not so much at the tips, but it's starting to encrust around the base, which is very cool. And yet another month-old frag looks like it's grown a bit at the branches.
So I'm crossing my fingers that everything continues to go well - once there's more obvious growth, I'll post pictures. :)
Mini Driving Rant
Why is it that my people have to be such bad drivers? It's embarrassing. So far now, I have been nearly hit twice in the new car, both times by Asian women. Last time, it was that one lady that nearly t-boned me because she wasn't looking when she darted out of a parking lot. This morning, some lady turning left full-on ran a red light and almost hit me as I tried to turn right. She never even slowed down, and neither driver apologized after I blasted them with my horn.
At least my parents are good drivers.

Awww, Marc is so sweet. This is the first year William had flowers delivered to me for V-day. I was super excited!
