I'm a Slacker

I've been remiss with my blogging of late - last week was a mix of not having much to write about as well as being swamped with work. Today has been mostly low-key, although our weekend was much too busy.

I should write first (mostly so that Marc will stop bugging me - I did try to blog about this last week, but accidentally navigated away from the page before I saved it, which subsequently erased my entire entry, and I didn't feel like writing it all out again) that I managed to make a large scratch in the front of our aquarium. I was cleaning it and got careless, and must have gotten some sand or gravel stuck between my little cleaning mop and the acrylic, and made a nice gouge that goes basically from the bottom to the top of the tank.

Sigh.

I'm supposed to be getting a scratch removal kit soon, so I'm hoping that it will get rid of it, because it looks terrible. It's the one major downside of having an acrylic tank. I'm definitely going to have to be more careful in the future.

Anyways, so this weekend turned out to be pretty busy. Saturday morning Marc and I got up early and went out for breakfast, and then I took Bandit herding. After that, I went home, bagged up one of the corals I had won at the swap, and Marc and I drove to Alameda to meet up with a member of my reefing club. I was trading this coral for a bunch of other corals, as the one I had won was neat, but not really one of the kinds I was trying to keep. We left with 6 new frags of corals, all very cool looking.

We stopped by a fish store in Alameda, but they didn't have much stock at all, so it was kind of a waste of time.

We got home, and Marc took a nap while I spent the next two hours alternatively napping and acclimating my new acquisitions. Then I spent another half-hour or so gluing and mounting all the new frags to the rocks in the tanks. This is always the biggest pain to do.

By then it was time to drive to Newark to meet up with my family for dinner for Chinese New Year's. The restaurant was crazy, and the service was lousy, but the food was pretty good.

We hung out at my parents' house for a while after dinner, and worked on a puzzle, which I haven't done in ages.

We got home close to around midnight, and then played Gears of War until 3 am. I think I finally fell asleep around 4!

Sunday afternoon, I went to Brenda's baby shower, while Marc went out with Bill and the rest of the guys to go see Ghost Rider. I didn't win any of the baby shower games! So sad. One of the gifts we bought Bill and Brenda was a box of 200+ diapers. Which, we were told, will last them like a day.

[On a tangent - my mom seems to be inquiring with more frequency - which is to say, that she is inquiring at all - as to when or if Marc and I plan on having kids. To this, I actually have no concrete answer. I'm pretty sure we'll have kids, and there are times when I definitely feel like I want kids, but there are also moments when I don't feel quite ready. Part of me also feels like I would be fairly content to simply keep dogs and cats. I dunno, I think there's a pretty good probability that we'll want to have kids, we just want to make sure it's for the right reasons. I mean, how do people usually know?]

So anyways, after the baby shower, we met up with my parents and brothers to have dinner to celebrate my mom's 57th birthday. None of us ever really know what to get her when it comes to presents, so we just treated her to dinner and cake and got her flowers, which seems to make her happy.

After that we went home, did the things around the house that needed to be done, and then went to bed, thoroughly pooped from the weekend!

Happy Birthday to your Mom!

Sorry about the scratch. :(

So, Will's new favorite game is Gears of War ... hahaha, don't be surprised if he's suddenly outside your door asking to play. ;)

Haha, he should come play online with us, we play with friends, usually around 10pm. I am trying to balance my Gears of War and World of Warcraft playing though. ;)

Maybe it's our generation that seems sort of ambivalent about having kids? (Broad generality, I know.) My mom has been delicately hinting that her friends have been asking "when we'll have kids" for the last year or so. It was a fairly momentous occasion when she finally straight-up asked us!
