Small World

Monday night, after work, Marc and I went out to go get dinner and some stuff at the store. As we were pulling out onto Dublin Blvd., I got a call on my cell phone.

I didn't recognize the voice at first, and the person just said, "Hey Bonnie, did you just turn from Myrtle onto Dublin Blvd? Did you just move here or something?" The voice sort of sounded like my friend Leslie, so I was confused, because she knows where we live. After much confusion, I found out it was my friend Ramona, who just recently moved back to the Bay Area, and hadn't been to our new place yet.

It turns out that she was visiting her aunt, who happened to live on our street! I told her to stop by the house if she had time, and she came over briefly to check it out. Then she told me that her parents actually owned the house behind our neighbors and rented it out.

The funny thing about that is, is that we knew that particular house was a rental, because our neighbors had told us about it. I guess they'd been trying to get the actual owners to pitch in to help fix the fence they share for forever, because the fence is apparently in poor shape (one of the previous tenants had dogs, and they actually ended up in our neighbor's yard one day). They actually had new tenants move in recently, and these people have some big shepherd mix dog that barks all...the...time.

Pretty funny stuff.

Not much else going on...the new fish that I picked up the other day hangs out in the open for about an hour or so after we get home before it buries itself in the sand again for the evening. It looks like it might actually be eating flatworms though (knock on wood), because I only spotted a few of them yesterday, and the day before they were all over the sand. I know it's always looking for stuff, and it's always picking at the rocks and the glass, but I haven't actually seen it eat one in person yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Random note: I got an e-mail today through my foster group e-mail list, about an Amber Alert from some girl who was "missing." A quick check on Snopes.com revealed that it was an old hoax. I guess there have been some that have gone around that are true, but this one wasn't (and it had a lack of details that sort of raised my suspicions in the first place). I hate stupid e-mails like these. I don't know who has all the time to waste to generate this stuff. And I wish people would fact-check these things before forwarding them on to everyone and their mother.
