Whew! We had a pretty busy weekend, and actually managed to get in a bit of exercise while we were at it, heh!
Friday
I can't remember what we did Friday night, is that sad? It was only what, 4 days ago? I think we may have spent some time at the mall, but after that, I don't know what we really did, if we did much of anything at all. Oh, we did buy lawn tickets to the Gwen Stefani concert (all the reserved seats were sold out). I'm basically dragging Marc with me, but I think it'll be fun. I've got her "4 in the Morning" track and Kelly Clarkson's cover of "Up to the Mountain" (from Idol Gives Back) playing in an endless loop on my iPod right now. Seriously an amazing vocal.
Saturday
Anyways, Saturday I met up with Cynthia and the rest of her bridesmaids for brunch, and then we spent the afternoon at Watercourse Way, a spa in Palo Alto. We spent an hour in the steam room/sauna/jacuzzi rooms, which was nice and relaxing, although none of us spent any time in the sauna - it was just too stuffy. I spent most of my time in the hot tub, and learned that I apparently get a sort of allergic reaction to hot tub jets, because my back ended up with a big red spot that started to turn rashy. And I only sat in front of the thing for like a minute. It's probably related to the reason I can't use those vibrating massage thingys without breaking out in a rash.
Afterwards, we each got a one hour massage, which was great. I fell asleep at some points, which was nice, but kind of a bummer, because I missed out on parts of the massage!
Marc and I went to my parents' house after that to have dinner with them and my brothers. They were doing a barbecue - which was sort of funny in itself - my parents' gas grill is old and gross, and it's finally gotten to the point where they won't use it. We had all pitched in and bought them a new grill last year, but my mom insisted that they didn't need a grill and that we return it, so we did. When we went over, we found that she had bought some cheapy little table-top charcoal grill. It was so ghetto. My mom slays me, I swear.
We watched the end of the NFL draft while we were there, and while I don't wish ill on some 20-year-old kid, I have to say that it was somewhat satisfying to watch Trent Edwards (ex-Stanford QB who said in his profile that the best thing he ever did was "not go to Cal" - even though he never managed to win a Big Game) slide all the way to the bottom of the third round. Conversely, Marshawn Lynch (Cal RB) got drafted 12th overall, which is awesome. Unfortunately for him, he gets to move to Buffalo - but at least it gets him out of Oaktown. Ironically, Buffalo is also the team that ended up drafting Edwards, heh. Four Bears ended up being drafted overall.
After dinner, Marc and I went with my brothers to play tennis. This sport isn't for me, it really isn't. I think maybe I need to take a lesson, just to learn fundamentally how to hit the damn ball so that it doesn't go soaring over the fence and out the court. I can't help but just slug the ball. We played for quite a while, and decided to wrap up when I lined the ball and nailed Leslie in the neck (he was fine). Oops.
We got back to the house, and Marc and Leslie went back out to go rent a movie. They came back with The Zodiac. Now, I stress the "The" part, because as I told them when they came back, the big studio movie was just Zodiac. So amusingly enough, they had picked up some straight-to-DVD knockoff. It actually wasn't bad though, although the story itself is just creepy and unsettling.
Sunday
Marc and I totally slept in on Sunday (probably due to us being out so late Saturday). We didn't wake up until 11, and I actually woke up before Marc did, which is highly unusual. We spent some time trying to replace the breaker for one of the fish tank circuits (it hasn't been working for a while). Replacing the breaker actually turned out to be a really easy task, but unfortunately it didn't fix the problem. There's probably a short somewhere, which means we're going to have to get an electrician out to fix it. Bleh.
We then drove to Sunnyvale to play badminton with my parents. They play every weekend, so we decided to try it out. I have the same problem in badminton that I do in tennis, but I think I do a bit better. It's those Asian badminton genes, I guess. Marc and I had fun, so we'll probably try to do it more often.
We got home, watched the end of the Warriors game (which was pretty exciting), and did our weekend chores before bed.
Monday
Last night was low-key - we watched the Sharks game, which was great, and then spent the rest of the evening mucking around on the computer. I did find this massive flatworm in the tank. It's the biggest one I've seen yet. I tried to squish it, but I'm not sure if I was successful or not. I should've taken a picture. I still can't tell if that wrasse is eating them - it's constantly picking at the rocks and sand, but I still see flatworms here and there. It's possible that it's eating them, but can't keep up enough to eradicate them.
Well, I think that novel more than makes up for my lack of blogging these past few days!
