As I mentioned yesterday, I was stuck working in the lab all day. The thing that sucks about it is that my boss and I run two labs in separate buildings, and I had to work in the lab in his building. I have no office there, and when I'm working up there I usually only can take breaks a few minutes at a time. So I end up eating my lunch in the hallway, which sorta blows.
I was in the lab for about 6 hours straight, which just about made me comatose. Luckily, I don't have to do this that often, but when I do I usually bring my iPod with me so I can listen to something other than the drone of the machines.
I left work around 5 to drive to Campbell for a 6pm hair appointment. By this point I had a headache, and I was feeling a bit dizzy. I think it's because I downed an entire can of Mountain Dew just before I left work to try to wake up a bit.
My hair took about 2 hours, and I managed to stay awake through the whole thing.
Then I drove to Fremont to the house of this lady who was going to do the alterations for my dress for Cynthia's wedding. For some reason, the top of the dress looks a bit funny on me, so it's going to require her to make some additional alterations. I must've succeeded in losing some weight as well, because when I tried it on a couple weeks ago, it was pretty tight around the midsection, but when I tried it on last night, it was a bit too loose. It's a bit snug around my hips/ass, which was surprising to her, but not to me, heh. Anyways, the crappy thing is that I have to go back Monday night for her to finish making measurements - since she has to shorten the top (which is odd, I always though I had a long torso), she can't do the hem until that's done. Bleh.
I finally got home around 9:30, and ate some leftovers and ramen for dinner. Yum.
Oooh, but I just purchased tickets to the Kelly Clarkson concert in July - floor seats, but I think they're a bit far back. Of course, after I bought them, I tried again and it offered me much better seats. Pfft! Oh well, I'm stoked anyways.
Rewind
Okay, so the top 30 was whittled down to the top 10 (RJ got in as the wild card winner). The 10 are: Justin, Kelly, Nikki, Tamyra, RJ, Christina, Ryan (who was Tiffany in the auditions, so wtf?), AJ, EJay, and Jim. My God, I just totally did that off the top of my head.
The first week was Motown week, and I can't find most of the performances on YouTube anymore (probably because these people don't have fans anymore), but I did find a few:
Tamyra ("Touch Me in the Morning"):
Kelly ("You're All I Need"):
And for fun, here's Nikki, who sounds off-key and horrible to me, but maybe it's just me (I don't really know the song - it's "Ben" by Michael Jackson I guess?):
EJ Day and Jim Verraros ended up getting voted off that week (they booted two the first round). I couldn't find their performances, but it's probably no big loss.
There were apparently 8 million votes cast for that first week. Seems puny now!
