Somewhat busy weekend again, as usual! Still looking for that do-absolutely-nothing weekend, but it never seems to happen!
My brothers came over late Friday night - we were going to watch The Good Shepherd, but it was way too late by the time they came over. So we all just hung out and watched TV - I think they went home around 1:30am or so. I stayed up after and was non-productive on the computer until around 3:30 when I finally went to bed.
Amusing side note: when Marc and I went to rent the movie, we spotted this couple standing out in the parking lot in front of Blockbuster. They looked to be about in their 40's, and they were totally making out. And not in a hot way either. The guy was totally skeevy - greasy hair with a receding hairline, pseudo-pimp sunglasses, and his hands absolutely all over this woman's ass. They were sucking face next to this Mustang, which was likely his, and totally not surprising. Talk about cliche. We figured they most likely were having an affair, because really, who makes out in a parking lot when they're over the age of like, 17? I practically had to run into Blockbuster, because I was going to simultaneously bust a gut laughing and hurl right then and there.
Anyways, Marc and I didn't wake up until noon on Saturday. Totally not what we'd planned, but hell, I felt like it was 9am or something, it didn't feel like sleeping in at all. Not surprising, I guess, given what time I'd gone to bed.
We went over to Steve and Erin's house in the afternoon to celebrate Allison's 4th birthday. Hard to believe she's already 4. Crazy! We had dinner and cake, and Marc generally hogged the new baby, heh.
We did like nothing that evening. At one point we were thinking of watching the movie, but scrapped that and ended up watching "Flip this House" instead, which is a show on A&E that follows different professional house flippers and their projects. This episode was about a house that they had bought sight-unseen, that they called the "Cat House." It was like those houses you hear about on the news where someone has 200 something cats living in filth in their house. There were supposedly actually people living in this house, and if you'd seen it, you would wonder how that would actually be possible.
There's literally inches of shit and garbage covering the floors - the "carpet" is so soiled it's hard as a rock - and there are cats, rats, and roaches crawling all over the filth. The flippers can't even get a contractor willing to clean the house for them - they end up having to hire a Hazmat specialist to clean it at the cost of $18,000. Insane. So gross though.
Sunday morning I had to wake up early, and that sucked. I took Bandit sheep herding (we're moving to Sundays now, because they're holding a farmer's market on Saturdays at the farm). Even though he didn't work too hard, he managed to blister his paws again. Not nearly as badly as last time, thankfully, but I'm definitely going to have to go some pad-toughener stuff for him.
We had lunch, then went to join my parents to play badminton. We ended up playing for almost 3 hours - whew! My dad was nice enough to buy us a pair of rackets. It's a lot of fun, although I wish it weren't such a stereotypically Asian thing to do, heh! I think Marc is like, the only white boy there.
The rest of Sunday was pretty much as usual - dinner, chores, then bed. I did watch the "Pre-Finale Performance" episode of "American Idol Rewind," and was reminded of how creepy Brian Dunkleman was. So glad he's not on the show anymore.
On a totally random side note - I had no idea that Sheryl Crow released a new album last year (I think). I have all of her albums (except for Globe Sessions), and I even have two of the singles off this new one, but never knew about the album itself. And we went to her concert too - I had wondered why she was touring. This explains it all!
I've noticed that Elliot Yamin (from last season's AI) has a new single that's been playing a bit on XM radio. I guess it's not bad, but it's a little Usher-esque for me. At least he fixed his teeth.

You had to know that was gonna happen.
I downloaded a song from The Wreckers onto my iPod, which brings the number of "country" songs on there to 4, I think (the rest is Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban). I don't think any of that really qualifies as real country, so I'm okay with that. Also downloaded (of course) Kelly Clarkson's new single, "Never Again." Whee!
Is it Friday yet?
