We're Back!

We're back from vacation! I meant to blog more during our trip, but just never had the time. So where to start?

Marc was at his conference all day Tuesday, so I decided to go to Sea World on my own. It's a little weird to go to a theme park and wait in lines all by yourself, but I guess it wasn't all that bad. I really only went on one ride there, which was pretty fun.

I watched the dolphins show and the "Shamu" show, and both were really great. I was standing near some lady who must've been from Alabama or some Southern state, and she kept pronouncing "Shamu" with the emphasis on the wrong syllable, and it ended up sounding like "Schmoo." Like, "What time is the Schmoo show?" "How do we get to the Schmoo show?" She must've said "Schmoo" about half a dozen times before she finally said, "Is that how you pronounce it?"

Marc warned me to try to control myself and not buy tons of souveniers, and I actually did pretty well - I bought one shot glass (we buy them everytime we go somewhere new), and won two stuffed animals from those claw machines (including a stuffed "Schmoo") - and that only cost me $2!

I pretty much spent most of the day there - I even got to feed some dolphins! They let you buy fish to feed them (they looked like giant silversides), and the dolphins are all swimming in this big lagoon. I got to touch a couple of them, including one that let me pet him for quite a while before he realized that I did not have a fish for him after all.

I drove back to the hotel around dinner time, and picked up Marc (who was done for the day). We did some shopping, then ordered room service and watched part of the AI finale performances. Once I heard Blake sing that coronation song (which was ass), I knew it was over, because that was so not a song he was ever meant to sing. I don't think I could've cared less about the finale performances if I tried. Once Jordin did her little heart thing to the camera, I resolved to go and vote for Blake 12 times. Which I did.

Wednesday morning I was on my own again, as Marc had a half day of conference stuff to attend. I went to Disney's Animal Kingdom, which was very cool. They had an awesome ride there. I walked around and checked out some of the animal stuff they had there. After lunch, I went and met up with Marc, and the two of us returned to the park.

We spent part of the afternoon at Animal Kingdom, and then went to the MGM Studios park for the rest of the day. There was an Aerosmith ride that was supposed to be really good, so we decided to go on it. The sign said the wait was 30 minutes, but we ended up waiting in line for an hour and a half. At one point, I was leaning against a wall and fell asleep. Marc didn't notice, and moved on without me. Some kids behind us in line had to wake me up. Embarrassing! The ride was really good, but I wouldn't wait that long again.

We got back to the hotel room in time to catch the second hour of the AI results show. I'll blog more on that in a separate post. We also caught the second hour of "LOST," so I'll have to wait until I watch the whole thing to blog about it.

Thursday we spent the first half of our day at Epcot. We went on the "Mission: Space" ride, which Marc really enjoyed, and I found to just be mostly uncomfortable. I mean, it was cool, but I don't think I'd be clamoring to go on it again. We had lunch at an English Pub there, and the food was surprisingly good.

After Epcot, we went to the Magic Kingdom, but didn't end up doing a whole lot there. We've seen most of the stuff there so many times at Disneyland, that we didn't want to waste too much time there. So we mostly did some shopping there, heh.

For dinner we had gotten tickets to this "Arabian Nights" dinner theater show. Neither of us had ever done dinner theater, and it sounded cheesy, but it was highly recommended to us, so we figured we'd give it a try. The food sucked, unfortunately. The show was cheesy, but there were lots of horses and cool tricks, so I actually enjoyed it. Anything with horses is cool by me.

After dinner we went to Downtown Disney and did yet more shopping. Then it was back to the hotel to pack and sleep.

Our flight was early this morning, and thanks to all our shopping, we had to move some stuff around in our suitcases because one of them was overweight. Oops! So we're both back at work now, and I just got sucked into a 3pm meeting. Wah!
