No house projects got done over the weekend, but that shouldn't be a surprise by now. Leslie (we're leaning on him now that Kenny's in Phoenix, ha!) came up Friday night and we went to watch Ocean's Thirteen.
I liked it, much better than the 2nd one (supposedly Steven Soderbergh wanted to call this one, Ocean's Thirteen: The One We Should've Made Last Time, which would've been very apt). So much yummy eye candy on screen at once. I'm so hot and cold when it comes to Matt Damon, but I like him in these movies.
It was really gross though - as we were exiting the theater and making our way down the semi-dark hallway, I almost stepped in something. It was just a small spot, and I couldn't make out what it was. Then, a foot further, there were more spots, and these were bigger. My brain started to process the information, and came to the realization of what I had almost stepped in when we got to the last spot (couldn't really call it a spot anymore), which was the biggest of all. Someone had puked, and puked half on the wall and half on the floor. They'd apparently been puking all the way down the hallway in little bits until they hurled the big one at the end of the hallway. I think they'd had crab for dinner. Or maybe lobster?
It was amusing watching everyone try to avoid stepping in it and all going "ewwww!" as they exited.
Saturday we got up semi-early again to wait for the electrician. We had an appointment window from 11am to 1pm. 1pm rolled around, and no electrician. Surprise. Marc called, and after being on hold for forever, was informed that the original quote we got was only good for the day we got it (bullshit), and that they'd have to come out and give us a new quote, which was going to be higher than the original, because the first guy "messed up on the quote." Pretty clear that they just didn't feel like coming out to do the work. So aggravating to deal with contractors, seriously.
After wasting our morning yet again, we went over to our neighbor's house. They were having a party for the boyfriend's birthday. We were kind of surprised that they invited us, because even though we've talked to them a number of times, we've never really hung out with them or anything. It was fun though - they had cool friends and good food. Kind of weird hanging out in someone's backyard and looking right at your own house though.
We were going to hang out with my cousin Henry that evening, but he got called into the hospital, so Marc and I ended up watching Children of Men, which I had rented from Blockbuster Online ages ago. It was kind of meh, which was disappointing, since it looked like it might be good. Marc didn't even make it through the whole thing before falling asleep.
Sunday was an early morning, as I had to take Bandit sheep herding. We had to split a huge flock of sheep into various little pens, and it was extremely frustrating. The sheep kept breaking up into two groups, which made it impossible to get them through the gate, because Bandit kept trying to keep them together. Coupled with the fact that he would not listen to me AT ALL, and it became an exercise in futility. We only had an hour to work because we had to leave early for lunch, and I think we spent most of our hour just trying to get the sheep into the proper pens.
Once we were done there, we went home, got changed, and then drove down to Fremont to meet up with my family for Father's Day lunch at World Gourmet (buffet place). I thought we were going to be late, because my mom said they were planning on being there at 11, and we didn't get there until 11:30. But, as is typical with my family, they hadn't even gotten there yet. They all finally showed up at around 12.
Lunch was pretty good! I'd never eaten there before, but I'd heard good things, and it didn't disappoint. I ate way too much food, especially the dessert stuff. The dessert was all kinds of awesome. They had those little steamed buns with red bean paste, and I think I ate like six of those. They are like love atop a little paper wrapper. I could eat those for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I really could. Mmm, just thinking about them makes me hungry.
For his present, we bought my dad some clothes for playing badminton.
After lunch, we went with Leslie and Henry to see Fantastic Four. We were actually going to try to see Knocked Up, but the showtimes didn't work for us. This one was better than the first movie, but it still had pretty clunky dialogue. Jessica Alba is, IMO, so horribly miscast for this series. I never really read Fantastic Four, but I'm pretty sure Sue Storm wasn't a bimbo. The Silver Surfer was cool though.
We went home after that and took a nap, then spent the rest of our Sunday doing chores before bed.
