Tired!

Got a busy day today, so blogging real quick here. :)

It was a long day yesterday! I ended up having an emergency with one of my lab machines in the afternoon, and was worried I wasn't going to be able to fix it in time to make it out for the concert. But luckily the fix turned out to be less complicated than it could have been, so it didn't take too long. It's funny, I always feel like a car mechanic when I'm working on this robot, because I've got my iPod on, and I'm using allen wrenches and screwdrivers, and I usually have to contort myself and squeeze into tight places. Is it awful that I enjoy this part of my job more than the actual science? Hahaha.

So Marc and I got to Shoreline about an hour before the start of the concert, and it was already pretty crowded. We only had lawn tickets (the reserved were all sold out), and I don't want to sound snobby or picky, but I think that's the last time I'll do lawn seats, unless it's for an act I really don't want to pay more than $25 to see. It's not comfortable, but I can deal with that part. The sucky part is that we couldn't hardly see the stage, and ended up watching the screens most of the time.

The concert was great though! She didn't sing "Crash," which is one of my favorites from L.A.M.B., but there were a lot of songs that I liked. I probably should've listened to the new album a couple times before last night though, because there were one or two songs I didn't know at all.

Lady Sovereign and Akon were the opening acts, and we pretty much skipped out on Lady Sovereign and went to wait in line to buy me a t-shirt. :) It is so CUTE. We got back in time to catch Akon, and I could swear he was lip synching. It was hard to tell, since we were exactly up close, but "Don't Matter" in particular sounded just like it does on the radio, except with him throwing in a few "San Franciscos!" here and there (I'm picky, but I always find it annoying when they yell "San Fran!" when we're in Mountain View. Someone should tell them to just say "Bay Area" or something. It always gets a lukewarm reception when they say SF). I mean, the guy is hopping around all over the stage, and you can't even hear his breathing change when he's "singing." But I dunno, that was just the vibe I got.

Gwen did a much better job with the "San Francisco" thing, 'cause she'd always throw in "San Jose" after that, and that always got bigger cheers. Yay for her being a California girl. I guess some lady in the audience was holding up a sign that said, "Sign my purse" or something, because Gwen stopped and had them hand up the lady's purse. So she signed it, and then was like, "Well, I guess we have to see what's in it," and proceeded to open it up. Too funny. The lady had a shirt inside the purse, so that got signed too.

During "Cool," she actually ran down one of the aisles and stood on one of the seats in the crowd to sing - the funny thing was there was this huge bodyguard (I don't know how he caught up to her so quickly) who was there to simultaneously hold her up and keep people from mobbing her. This guy was BIG. And not so friendly looking, lol.

We didn't get out of there until 11pm, and that was with us leaving in the middle of the encore. We got home, took care of all the pets, and then almost immediately went to bed. My eyes were watering all night though, because our clothes were just drenched in cigarette and pot smoke.

Anyways, that was supposed to be quick, but ended up being long! Off to work!
