Weekend 'n Stuff

We kept pretty busy this weekend, although once again we failed to get any real house projects done - like finishing the kitchen cabinets. Marc and I are seriously considering just hiring a handyman to come and finish the job. How sad is that? Or maybe we'll just wait until door-less cabinets become trendy.

Still have to do the floors in the living/dining room as well. This month, maybe? I really want to set goals/timelines, but there's no consequences for not meeting them, so it seems sorta useless. Getting them done this month would be nice though.

Didn't do much Friday night - I spent some time downloading all the LQ MP3's from "My December" and listened to a bunch of them. Definitely different from "Breakaway," but I am enjoying most of these songs. One of my favorites is probably the hidden track, "Chivas," which has a great sound/vibe, and is also hilarious. The vocals/phrasing on this album are fantastic.

Anyways, we were supposed to have an electrician come Saturday morning to fix one of the fish tank circuits, and the guy was supposed to show up at 9 am. At 10:30, he called Marc to let him know that a previous job was running long, and that he wouldn't be able to make it (we had to reschedule for next Saturday). Typical.

After that wasted morning, we went to Steve and Erin's to celebrate Jacob's 7th birthday (they were doing a joint party for him and his cousins). There were like, a hundred kids there. Actually, there were only 7 (including the baby), but it seemed like a hundred. We played games, had dinner and cake, and they opened tons of presents. It was fun, and the baby didn't dress itself in poop this time, so all in all it was a good time, hahaha.

Deepali and (friend) Leslie came over that evening, and we took turns facing off in Guitar Hero. Deep and I are pretty evenly matched - some of our scores were pretty darn close. Apparently I have to beat the game in medium mode to unlock another competetive mode, so I need to try to finish up. I'm almost there, but stuck on one song, which sucks.

Sunday morning I took Bandit herding, and Jan took him out for one of his runs. He was surprisingly reluctant to go with her, which might have been because he knew he'd have to actually listen if Jan was out there (and he did). It was cute though - after they were done working the sheep, he ran over to one of the sprinklers in the field and stood next to it so that it would splash him in the face to cool off.

I did manage to get some stuff in the fish room done - mainly finishing up some long-overdue silicone sealing around the stand and tank.

Marc and I went to play badminton with my parents in the afternoon - I think we may be getting a little better, as we didn't get beat as badly as before, heh.

And that was our weekend!
