Well, I tried my best to finish "Harry Potter" over the weekend, but I just didn't have enough time. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through, I think. I toyed with the idea of calling in sick today just so I could finish it, hehe. So far, the book is really, really good.
I preordered my copy from FYE, so Marc was nice enough to pick it up for me Saturday morning (I woke up with a splitting headache and wasn't feeling well). After seeing Barnes and Noble on Friday evening, I'm glad I didn't get in on the midnight sale madness.
We didn't do much Friday. Leslie came over, and the three of us played on the Wii for a bit (the XBox is on its way to Microsoft - which is a funny story in itself - when I dropped off the (nondescript) shipping box at UPS, the clerk looked at it and said, "Ah, XBox." Guess Microsoft is sending out a lot of these shipping boxes). Then Leslie packed up his fish to bring back to my parents' house.
After Marc picked up my book on Saturday, I went down to Campbell for my hair appointment (which takes forever). Still had a splitting headache. When I got back, we went to pick up some paint samples for the house, and proceeded to paint swatches of the front of our house in various colors, which ended up looking pretty funny. We finally managed to settle on what we think will be good colors - it makes me nervous because it's so FINAL.
We went to Union City in the evening to meet my parents and Leslie for my dad's birthday dinner. We took him to Texas Roadhouse (I think all of us were fatigued on Chinese food - except probably my mom). Afterwards, we picked up a cake at Coldstone and went back to my parents' house. We had cake and ended up chatting until 12:30 am.
Somewhere in there, I managed to read the first two chapters of Harry Potter.
Sunday I got up early and took Bandit herding. There's a few herding shows coming up - I may try to enter him in one of the easy levels, but we'll see.
Marc and I had lunch, and I read more of my book. Then the painters showed up to do a power wash on the outside of the house. Bandit was actually really good with the guy who owns the business. I'm not sure I've ever seen him so relaxed when a stranger has come in the house. And our painter is a relatively big guy. But Bandit went right up to him for petting, and even went and got one of his toys. Our painter has dogs, which might explain why Bandit was comfortable with him. Funny how dogs can sense these things.
After the painters left, we went to play badminton with my parents. We're getting better, but still not winning. Basically, whichever team my dad is on is the one that ends up winning. At least we're improving a little though.
We ordered in pizza for dinner, and I read a bunch more of Harry Potter before bed.
And that was our weekend!

I went to the Borders madness on Friday night, it was actually a lot of fun! I bought book 6 (lost my copy somewhere) and book 7. I finished book 6, and have 50 pages left of book 7. ACK! Can't wait till the BART ride home!
WOW. I can't believe you've read that much! I was going to go back and read book 6 again, but I didn't feel like waiting another week to read book 7. I just want to go home now and finish!
Me too! I can't wait till it's time to go home! It's actually pretty good, and I'm excited about the movies for 6 and 7.
