Catch Up

I think it's been more than a few days since I last blogged? Meant to, but it's been pretty busy at work.

I dropped off Marc and Steve at the BART station on Friday afternoon - they were flying up to Vancouver to visit their grandmother for the weekend. As such, I was left to my own devices for a couple days. Scary, I know!

I didn't do much Friday evening - at least, not that I can remember. Marc and I had picked up tile samples before he left, and managed to come to a sort of consensus on one particular slate that we liked. I hate picking out flooring, just like I hate picking out paint colors. I need some sort of internal Photoshop.

Leslie came up to join me for dinner, but he got to our house extremely late. I waited for him until 10pm. Typical of my brother! By the time he arrived, about the only thing left open was Chili's, so we ate there. Then we rented The Bourne Supremacy from Blockbuster, because Leslie couldn't remember having seen it, and wanted a refresher for the new film.

Well, five minutes into the movie, he declared, "Oh, I did see this, just recently," and promptly fell asleep. I managed to stay awake for most of the rest of it. Then I woke Leslie up and sent him home.

Bandit was nice enough to sleep on the bed that night to keep me company.

Saturday I woke up at a pretty reasonable time, and went down to the floor store to make arrangements to have the kitchen measured. Then I drove down to Fremont to have brunch with my family. We had warm soy milk and those Chinese donut things, which I haven't had in forever. YUM.

I went home and worked on the living room floor for a few hours. I pulled up a bunch of padding and scraped the concrete clean. I had to move the couches back and forth by myself, which was not a fun task. Then I cleaned up the house a little bit.

Deepali came over and joined me for dinner, and we rented Happy Feet, which was a little different from what I was expecting, but mostly entertaining. How come he was still fuzzy at the end?

Anyways, that night the cats slept on the bed to keep me company.

I didn't have herding Sunday morning, so I slept in, ate, and the lady from the floor store came and measured our rooms. Then I mostly putted around the house all afternoon before I left to go pick up Marc and Steve at the airport.

We haven't done much the past two nights - our tiles have been ordered, so hopefully they will come in on time.

Oh, we got our XBox back! Except, it's not our old unit, but a different one. We don't think it's new - probably another repaired unit, which kind of sucks. It's probably the only way they can stick to their two-week repair time promise.

Came across this cool video today - it's a bit long, but worth watching, IMO. It sounds like it was taken by some people on a safari - they catch a pride of lions taking down a baby water buffalo. The lions nearly lose the buffalo to a croc in the river, and then the herd of adult buffalo return and fight off the lions! Even more amazingly, it sounds like the baby survived - I guess the people went back and couldn't find a carcass or anything. Anyways, very cool - you wonder if the buffalo were like, "Hey, why didn't we think of this before? Like, we're bigger and we have horns 'n stuff!"

That was a very cool video! Good for the herd to fight back and get the baby!!

I LOVE those Chinese donuts!!! We just had them the last time we visited my mom. I don't think I've had a hot one w/ soy milk since... high school or something!
