Today is Marc's birthday! His birthday treat for today will be dinner and watching the 49er's game on TV, hehe.
We had a busy weekend. Didn't do much Friday night, but got up super early on Saturday to go to an agility fun match in Livermore. Fun matches are like regular shows, but you're just out there for practice, not competing. A bunch of my "classmates" were there as well (none of them are competing yet), so it was kind of fun to have others to hang out with.
A few of us were standing around watching some of the runs when an interesting incident happened (Marc missed it). This one lady with a Border Collie (#1) was walking by, and semi playing tug with her dog as they walked. She passed by another lady who was standing there with her Border Collie (#2). That dog lunged out at the one that was playing tug (probably to try to get the toy), and a short (and I mean short) spat ensued. There was a little bit of snarling, and that was it.
What was funny was how the lady with BC #1 reacted. She stopped, and just looked shocked. Lady #2 apologized, but all lady #1 said was, "Yeah...." Someone asked if the dog got bit, and lady #1 said "Yeah...." again, in the same incredulous tone. Then she said, "I was just walking by with my dog at my side." And lady #2 said, "And I was just standing here with my dog by my side." Lady #1 then started checking her dog's face to check for bite marks (there weren't any). Lady #2 started saying, "I'm sorry...but I don't think he hurt him." And Lady #1 snapped back, "I said I'm CHECKING. You need to get on him when he does something like that, Sherri." (Apparently she knew the other lady.)
The rest of us were just standing there, gawking (it literally happened right in front of us). I almost couldn't keep from laughing at the first lady. I mean, talk about a bitchy, over the top way to react to something like that. I've seen FAR worse scuffles, and the one that happened hardly merited any sort of attention. I mean, you're walking by other dogs, playing tug with yours - it's bound to happen that another dog is going to get excited and try to grab the toy. In fact, chances are it was her dog that did the snarling and snapping to keep the other dog from its stuff. They're dogs, it happens.
We finished up with the fun match at around noon, drove home and ate a quick lunch, and then drove to Fremont to pick up my brothers and drove to BART to ride up to the Cal/USC game (we also coincidentally met up with Will and Deepali, who were sitting with us at the game). It was drizzling when we got to Berkeley, and got progressively worse as we neared the stadium. We all had ponchos, but mine had a big tear down the front. So I had to buy one of those cheapy trash-bag like ponchos, and I ended up wearing both.
It was miserable at the game. It rained the entire time. My sneakers soaked right through, and my hands were so wet they started to prune up. The ponchos kept me mostly dry, but condensation started to set in, and by the third quarter, it was about as wet inside the ponchos as outside. My jeans were pretty sopping wet at the bottom and at the knees.
Despite the rain, it was still a packed stadium, and stayed that way until about halftime. The game was close until the end, so we stayed all the way until about 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. We trudged back towards BART, stopping for dinner along the way. Then it was a long, wet, miserable BART ride home. We didn't get home until almost midnight.
On the bright side, one of my presents for Marc's birthday got delivered that day.
It's an M&M store display that's about 3 1/2 feet tall. We saw one in a store in Phoenix, and Marc commented that it would be cool to have one of those, so being the good wife that I am, I immediately went and looked for it on eBay. Managed to win one, and it fortunately arrived in time! I don't know what we'll put in it...it'll probably go in the loft.
I also got him a copy of MS Money and shelves to display his model car collection - we'll probably put those up in the loft as well, as there's a perfect spot for them.
Sunday I woke up early again and took Bandit herding. In the afternoon, my parents, Leslie, and Steve and Erin and their kids all came over to have dinner and ice cream cake for Marc's birthday. Steve and Erin got Marc the Season 3 DVD set for "The Office," and we watched a few episodes later that evening.
Now that it's Monday, I'm about ready for it to be the weekend again, 'cause I hardly got any sleep during this one!

Happy Birthday Marc!
Happy Birthday!!!
