Happy New Year!

Back at work, and subsequently back at blogging. Lots to cover, but I definitely won't go into lots of detail about our vacation. It was relaxing, and as usual, not long enough.

We didn't go anywhere - mostly chilled out at home, and worked on some things around the house, although not as much as we'd planned, I don't think.

The biggest event was probably the fact that we are now a 3-car household once again. Marc surprised me with a Mustang Shelby GT for my Christmas present (which totally outdid the watch I got him)! It's a beautiful car, if not totally frivolous, heh. The car is black, with silver racing stripes. I have yet to take pictures of it, but I'll take some in the garage tonight, and post them tomorrow (along with the story of how he surprised me).

We also bought my parents a new fridge for Christmas. Their's was going on 20-years old, I think, and it was in pretty poor shape. We ordered it from Sears and had it scheduled for delivery on Saturday the 23rd. Our delivery window was from 8:30-10:30 am, and coincidentally, Kenny was flying into San Jose at 9am, which meant that my parents would be out of the house.

We showed up at their house at 8:30 and found out that only my dad was going - my mom was still sleeping. We told my dad that we were down in Fremont to go to Fry's, but didn't realize that they didn't open until 9, so we came to their house to hang out. We figured my dad was going to leave around 8:40 to head to the airport, but by 8:50 he was still at the house! "Better he waits than I have to," was his explanation. It wasn't until Kenny called to let my dad know that he had landed did my dad leave.

Marc and I then furiously started to empty the fridge and freezer - and not five minutes after my dad left, the delivery truck showed up. While Marc went out to meet them, I continued to empty the fridge. I guess the commotion woke up my mom, because she came out of her bedroom and said, "Bonnie, what are you doing?" I told her we were cleaning her fridge because it was so gross (which it was). Finally, she said, "Did you buy me a fridge?" I said, "What? No, of course not!" And she said, "I know you did, I heard the truck pull up!"

Usually my mom tells us to return everything we buy her, but this time she didn't, and she seemed to really like the fridge. My dad seemed to really like it too, so we were relieved. It looks really nice in their kitchen - and should save them a bit in electricity costs!

We were supposed to spend Christmas Eve at Steve and Erin's house, but the kids unfortunately got really sick the day of. So we ended up just having my parents and brothers over, and we all went out to sushi for dinner. Christmas Day was spent at my parents' house, and because my cousin Mark flew in after Christmas, we had 2nd Christmas at my aunt's house on Saturday.

I did have to go into work briefly on Friday because of a robot failure, but luckily it only took a few minutes to fix. The drive back and forth to work was the bigger pain.

So that was our vacation in a nutshell. Car stuff and other stuff that I might remember to come tomorrow...
