Well, I made it into Portland okay last night, even though it wasn't the most comfortable flight I've ever been on. Thankfully, it was a pretty short flight. They did, however, deplane us in the middle of the tarmac, in the rain, with no cover to speak of. I had to wait out there for my carry-on luggage as well (it was a small plane), and then they didn't really give us much guidance as to where we were supposed to go, so we were all just running around aimlessly in the rain. Fun.
I'm in my hotel room right now - there was a dinner I was originally going to go to, but I'm pretty beat from the day, so I'm just going to stay in and order room service. Too tired to go out and have to socialize and listen to more talks. The last discussion of the day today just about made me pry my eyeballs out so that I could stick them in my ears and not have to listen. Scientists can be such blowhards.
Anyways, Portland isn't a bad city - seems a little bit like a cross between San Jose and SF. It's pretty much been raining/drizzling since I got here though.
My hotel is nice - pretty clean and modern, although the room is a bit small. But it comes with an iPod dock radio and a flat panel TV, and the bathroom is pretty big. Service is pretty good too, so I can't complain.
And that's about it - tomorrow is going to be a pretty long day, I think. Saturday is going to suck, since I'll be at the conference all day, and then I get to go wait at the airport for my 8:30pm flight.
