Weekend

So I took a vacation day Friday, and managed to get a few errands done, although not nearly as much as I'd planned. Funny how the days seem so much shorter when you're at home versus work.

Marc got home a little bit early, and the two of us ended up taking a short nap before dinner. We went out for sushi, and then came home and watched I Am Legend on blu-ray. It definitely looked great. The movie itself was okay. I am a little tired of the virus-turns-people-into-blood-sucking-zombies thing. Why must every virus turn people into zombies? We happened to catch Outbreak on TV after watching this, and I have to say it was a small relief to watch a movie where people just got infected and, you know, died.

Anyways (spoiler alert starts now), I was really sad the dog died. Much more so than I was about all the people. How stupid was he though, running around with the dog like it was his playground? I would've left the dog at home or at least in the car.

Okay, end spoilers.

Saturday we slept in really late and mostly ran errands during the day. I finally went and got wood and supplies for my prop tank stand. Conveniently, they sell plywood in 2'x2' pieces, which is exactly the size of my tank. We looked all over Lowes for pocket screws, but they either moved them somewhere else, or they don't carry them anymore. I couldn't find any wood joining stuff, so we might have been looking in the wrong area (although we looked in hardware, tools, and the lumber/building section - what else makes sense?). None of the workers were helpful. Surprise! So we ended up going to a local woodworking store, where it took me all of 3 seconds to find the screws. Yet another reason to support small stores.

We watched Things We Lost in the Fire that night (we're making up for lost time/wasted rentals on our Blockbuster account, heh). It was kind of meh. David Duchovny was in it, which kept my interest until he died, but the rest was a bit boring. I'm not a huge Halle Berry fan, and I like Benicio Del Toro, but he always looks so...gross.

Sunday we were supposed to go to Steve and Erin's to celebrate Jennifer's 1st birthday, but poor Jennifer got sick, so they had to cancel. So Marc and I pretty much just bummed around most of Sunday afternoon. We tried to watch Rendition that evening. We got about halfway through before we decided that neither of us was very interested in it. The movie was kind of boring - the pacing was just weird and slow. I dunno, we might not have been in the right mood for it or something, but I found myself playing on my laptop more than actually watching the movie.

This week I have to wear glasses - no more contacts! My LASIK is next Monday, and I'm actually starting to get a bit nervous about it. I hope it all goes okay. If I go blind before I get to see the "X-Files" movie, I'm going to shoot myself!
