Anyone watch "American Idol" last night? Or are Marc and I the only ones still watching this train wreck? Because last night was crazy.

I wish I could say I was productive over the weekend, but I wasn't. Ended up feeling really lazy, and didn't get much accomplished.

With all the shows now coming back from the strike-imposed hiatus, our Thursday night was pretty full of TV watching.

Comcast was kind enough to broadcast last night's Game 7 in HD, so we got to watch the game during dinner. Sharks won the game, won the series, and played so much better than they did in Game 6. They kept the puck in Calgary's zone, kept it out of theirs, and they seemed to be a lot more aggressive on the boards and in taking shots on goal. Seems like every year they have a tough, physical series, and they haven't been able to step up and win. Maybe now that they finally have, they've got a shot at the Cup.

We still haven't taken the Rav4 into the shop yet, but Marc and I are both pretty certain that it's the transmission, and Marc did a little research on it. Looks like it's going to be an expensive fix. There's actually a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) out on it, but it doesn't look like that's going to help us. The warranty on the transmission is up at 96 months/80,000 miles, and we're way past 80k miles. From the sounds of it, the total repair cost from the dealership is anywhere from $4000-$5000. I'm pretty certain the car itself isn't worth much more than that.

We didn't accomplish much this weekend, but it made for a relatively relaxing one, so I can't complain.

Blogging from the family room right now, watching the Sharks game before "The Office" comes on. Sharks are up 2-1, but man are they playing sloppy. Marc is sleeping on the couch - he had a headache, and right now he's sleeping with his brow all furrowed, which is funny because I don't think I've ever seen anyone sleep that way. Poor guy.

Is this starting to feel like an XF blog? Ha! Anyways, the movie finally has a title. X-Files: I Want to Believe. Not a fan of it. The first-person usage sounds awkward to me. Whatever. I wasn't a fan of the title of the last one either. I'm still going to see the movie a bajillion times.

Man, it was hot this weekend! Today seems to be much cooler, which is a bit of a relief.

Our Friday morning got off to some excitement, as we witnessed an accident on 580 on our way to work.

Had my follow-up exam for my eyes yesterday morning, and they said that my vision in both eyes is now 20/15. Sweet! Last night when I went to bed I kept wanting to take my contacts out. It was all I could do to keep myself from absentmindedly sticking my fingers in my eyes out of habit.

Well, I am sitting here typing up this entry with no glasses or contacts! I had my LASIK this morning, about 12 hours ago, and it's pretty awesome! I think I'm pretty much seeing as well as I did with contacts already.

Three more days of wearing glasses, and then I'm free. I really hate wearing these things. I keep wanting to take them off, and I have no peripheral vision. Also, they're giving me a headache today (could also be from this Coke Zero I've been nursing all afternoon). I'm glad I at least got new glasses last year (or maybe it was the year before?). Because my last pair had Bandit-inflicted teeth marks in the lenses, and that would've been embarrassing to have to wear all week. Of course, it sucks that these are relatively new and I won't be needing them anymore soon.

CNN has a neat video clip of an elephant painting a self portrait (hopefully the link works). Pretty remarkable. I read another story where researchers had painted a mark on the forehead of an elephant, and when it looked at it's reflection in the mirror, it actually touched the mark on its own forehead with its trunk (and not the mark in the mirror). It's interesting, because animals generally don't recognize that what they see in a mirror is a reflection of themselves - the ability to project from reflection to self is usually considered a mark of sentience.

Someone needs to buy me this. Seriously. I would die.

Actually, it would probably be a bad idea, because I think I'd just be a blubbering idiot the entire time. I can only imagine if the auction was for Nick Lea, DD, and GA - I'd probably give up the college fund of my first born to win.
