CNN has a neat video clip of an elephant painting a self portrait (hopefully the link works). Pretty remarkable. I read another story where researchers had painted a mark on the forehead of an elephant, and when it looked at it's reflection in the mirror, it actually touched the mark on its own forehead with its trunk (and not the mark in the mirror). It's interesting, because animals generally don't recognize that what they see in a mirror is a reflection of themselves - the ability to project from reflection to self is usually considered a mark of sentience.
(Sorry, I read a whole article about animal intelligence in National Geographic, so now I'm just blathering on about it. I just thought it was a neat video!)
We didn't do a whole lot yesterday. I took Bandit to agility class, and Marc worked a little bit late. I think we pretty much ate dinner, watched a little TV, and went to bed. I'm on Season 2 of XF now, and I'm forcing Marc to watch the Scully abduction arc, hehe - I thought he'd seen it before, but apparently not.
I think we also watched a little bit of "American Idol" and maybe some "Supernanny." I just can't get into AI this year - I think I'm still jaded from last year. I do like Brooke White, but I don't think she has the steam to make it to the end. I'm kind of meh about everyone else (except Kristy Lee Cook, who I can't stand).
Can't wait until "The Office" comes back next week (supposed to be a hilarious ep). At least it'll be one thing to look forward to until "Lost" and "Grey's" come back on later this month.
