Weekend Recap

| | Comments (3)

We didn't accomplish much this weekend, but it made for a relatively relaxing one, so I can't complain.

Leslie and my cousin Henry came out to Dublin on Friday night, and the four of us went to have sushi for dinner, and then went to see 21 in the theater. It was pretty entertaining, although parts of the story were a bit iffy. I don't know that it was worth paying $11 to see, but it's been a while since we've been to the movies, so what the heck.

Saturday I slept in until past 11 (I hadn't gone to bed until past 2 am). We had lunch with Jan (Bandit's herding trainer) and helped her shop for an HDTV. After she picked one out, we went to help her set it up, which was a bit tricky. She has a rooftop antenna with a twin-lead cable (not coaxial), which is something I haven't seen in years! We weren't able to get any HD channels to show up, which sucks. I don't think reception is particularly good in her area, so she may have to sign up for satellite or cable.

After we did all that, we drove to Fremont to have dinner at my parents' house. Two of my aunts were in town. I think we had about 11 people at dinner, and enough food to feed 20. We had dinner, dessert, and Marc and I hung out until about 11:30 before heading home.

I had to wake up early Sunday morning to take Bandit herding. Afterwards, Marc and I drove down to Fremont (again) to meet up with Bill and Brenda and their kids for lunch. On our way home, we stopped by the sheep farm again to check out someone's new border collie puppy. So freakin' cute.

We came home and napped for part of the afternoon, and then after dinner we watched The Mist on DVD. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a bad movie - it was mostly entertaining, and there was one part where we were laughing our butts off (not sure if laughter was the intended reaction they were shooting for though). I'm definitely glad I rented this and didn't see this in the theater.

We also watched parts of the Sharks game, and well, the less said about that, the better. Seriously, GET ON THE GODDAMN PUCK! Lackluster play all around, it was pissing me off.

Oh, and I also watched two episodes of season 4 XF. Cynthia, I watched your favorite, "The Field Where I Died" hahaha. Well, I sort of watched it. I fast-forwarded through a lot of parts. I have to say that it's probably my least favorite ep - the cinematography was great, but everything else was crap. David Duchovny's crying was just the cherry on top. That man should never cry on screen. Ever.

Lastly, congratulations to our friends Corrie and Steve on their new baby boy!

That's it! Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I saw 21 also (but the weekend before). It started out pretty good, but then you have to add the hollywood elements to it ... oh well.

too bad you don't have a clip of his crying...i'll have to watch that scene again next time i'm over.

I looked on YouTube for it, Cynthia, but I guess no one else wants to remember it. I should make a compilation of all his crying scenes for you, haha. There's that other one where it looks like he's trying to bite Scully's hand.
