Still no pictures from Vegas, sorry. Just haven't gotten around to it yet - not surprising for me. I'll try to do it tonight, really!
July 2008 Archives
I'm back from Vegas! And let me just say that my life is now complete. The movie was awesome. So much more than I ever expected to get. I'll post more about my weekend tonight/tomorrow once I get some of my pictures uploaded. For now, I'm just going to talk about the movie (I'll keep it non-spoilery).
With the crap that went down on Monday (more on that later), I didn't blog about our weekend at all, which was actually pretty good.
I've always felt that life was a system of checks and balances, and so it goes to figure that on this week that the movie I've been waiting 6 years for is finally coming out, I get bad news. If you've paid attention to the news today, you might have heard that my company, Roche, is looking to buy the remaining shares of Genentech (they currently own 56%). As a result, they're closing down our site here in Palo Alto.
We bought Wii Fit back when it came out in May, and I tried it only a couple times. The last time I used it, it kindly informed me that it had been 38 days since I'd worked out (it gets snarky with you, ha!). BUT, I'd lost 3.3 pounds! Woohoo!
...but sadly I can't use it. There was a contest online to win tickets to the XF Premiere event in London, and I entered it just for fun, and it turns out I actually won a pair. There's no way I can fly to London though (which is sad, because both stars are going to be there). But oh, how I would love to go. I finally win something, and I have to turn it down!
Had a good weekend at Petsmart, as we managed to get all three remaining kittens adopted! All we have left now is April, the mom, who I am surprised is still not adopted. I've gotten a couple of calls on her, but none that have panned out. I feel bad, because she's been staying at Petsmart for the last two weeks, and I hate leaving her in a cage. Fortunately, she seems to be handling it pretty well, but I might take her home one day this week, just so she can get out of there for a bit.
So I realized yesterday that I'd had the blog's comment settings set up in such a way that it was requiring people to sign in in order to comment. That's fixed now, so comments should be going through without requiring you to sign in. Sorry about that.
I'm finally at the tail end of my cold, but Marc's got it pretty bad now. He stayed home from work yesterday, but felt well enough to go in today. Lucky me got to be sick all holiday weekend.
Yesterday afternoon (after I just about expired from boredom at this meeting) I started having a runny nose, and it got progressively worse as the evening wore on. I went to help out at cat clinic, and my throat started to get a little sore. It's even worse this morning, so I'm pretty sure that I'm coming down with something. Right before the holiday weekend, which is awesome. I'm so thrilled.
The other night, Marc and I were out in the Mustang, and I was driving. I stopped at a light, and this Mercedes pulled up next to us. When the light turned green, I pulled out - fairly normally, but with a little speed because I actually needed to get into the lane the Mercedes was in. The Mercedes though, was accelerating pretty hard, and I realized he was trying to race us.
