Our neighbors organized a block sale this weekend, and Marc and I decided to participate, since we still had a bunch of junk to get rid of around the house. We probably didn't do the best job preparing for it (we still have a few things that we would've liked to sell that we forgot about), but we did manage to cobble together a fair amount of stuff.
The sale started Saturday morning at 8, so we both had to get up early to start putting things out front. Steve and Erin also came by with a couple things, and the kids helped me move a bunch of my stuffed animals out.
I had a few purses - one of them was a D&B purse that I'd gotten as a wedding gift. It was expensive, and I'd only used it a couple times (it was too big for daily use). So I decided to put it out to see if I could get a good price for it. Otherwise, I'd just keep it.
My mom stopped by as well, and brought a few things with her. Things started to get pretty busy.
These two ladies came up and grabbed all our DVDs and books and asked how much we wanted for all of it. While I was busy adding everything up, Marc yelled across the driveway to me, asking, "How much for the ----?" I saw some lady standing next to him with this big Coca Cola body pillow that I'd thrown out there. I was a bit distracted, so I just said, "$3."
After the two ladies made their purchase, I walked over to Marc and my mom to chat, when I noticed that my D&B purse was gone. I said, "Where's my purse?" And Marc replied, "That's the one I was asking you about - you said to sell it for $3."
After freaking out for a few minutes outside, I had to go inside the house to cool off.
The rest of the day went a lot more smoothly. I even managed to sell my old 30gb iPod, which was pretty popular. Our neighbor down the street bought it, and I got pretty much the price I would've asked for on craigslist.
We sold some pretty random things as well. I had this organic chemistry molecule model set from college that some guy bought for $1. I didn't figure it would sell, but I put it out there for the heck of it.
We did it again Sunday morning, and by the end of both days we had made almost $500. Not too bad. I had this old dirty birdcage that I was too lazy to clean, so we put it out with a big "FREE" sign on it. After we'd cleaned up and moved everything back inside on Sunday, I left the birdcage on the driveway for the heck of it. An hour later, it was gone.
I didn't do much the rest of the weekend. Marc had to go to work Saturday afternoon, and I just stayed home and napped. I was pretty exhausted from the block sale. We went out to eat with my family in the evening, and then we just hung out at my parents' house to watch the Olympics and see Michael Phelps win his 8th gold.
Sunday evening I went out into the backyard to turn off the faucet (I was making water for the fish tank), and Bandit ran out with me to go play with his ball. He started making a racket, and it was late, so as I was walking back, I said, "C'mon Bandit, let's go!" He must have thought that I'd left the sliding glass door open, because he ran right into it, head first. BOOM! Poor thing got knocked back about a foot, and then he paused, stunned, for a second. I went over and worried over him a bit, but he seemed fine. Marc opened the door and he went bounding inside. He's such a klutz.

Well, think of it this way, you probably made a lady very very happy!
Well, if she's going to use it for herself, then that's cool, I've got no problem with that. I'll only be mad if she's just going to resell it on eBay or something. I'll just tell myself it's the former, and be content. :)
