I finally managed to get all my pictures and stuff uploaded, yay! I had to force myself to finish my resume before I did anything else, heh. Anyways, not a ton of pictures from Vegas - I used my camera rather sparingly.
I flew in to Vegas midday Friday and took the shuttle over to the hotel. I got on the shuttle and we waited around for a while before it left. There were a few people on there, including this older couple - the husband was odd. He was wearing a tie-dyed tank top (I know, nice look), had a big beer gut, and he kind of shuffled onto the bus. He struck me as a bit weird.
While we were waiting, he wandered off the bus and started wandering around on the sidewalk. A few minutes later, our driver returned and asked, "Is everyone here?" The guy's wife then said, "Wait, we're missing someone!" and started to tap on her window to get her husband's attention. He poked his head in, and at first he thought he was on the wrong bus. Then his wife hollered. So he climbs on board, and as he's making his way back to his seat, he yells, "WELL WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SOMETHIN' ADELLE? WHAT ARE YOU, TRYIN' TO BE SMART OR SOMETHIN'?"
I think everyone around me just froze. I had no idea what the hell that was all about. They continued to argue back and forth for a minute before falling into silence for the rest of the ride. Yeesh.
My friends and I stayed at the New York New York hotel. I had a nice room at the top floor - and right outside my window was the apex of the NYNY roller coaster! It was hilarious, because I could sit in my bed and watch the roller coaster cars climb up, and then plummet down with people screaming. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture.
We went to see the XF movie that evening at Rave Motion Picture Theaters down the strip. It was a pretty cool theater - all digital, big seats, and lots of room between rows. Very nice place to watch a movie.
We all slept in pretty late the next morning, got a late breakfast, and then went to the M&M store. The Coca Cola store was next door, but there wasn't much to see as they were remodeling. The M&M store is always fun, but it was crowded. I bought Marc a new dispenser, and as we were going up the escalators, we noticed all these fake movie posters that they had on the walls, featuring M&Ms, and thought this one was particularly great:
Then in the late afternoon we went to the theater at the Palms to catch another showing of the movie before grabbing dinner.
Afterwards, we split up, and I went with one of my friends, Cheri, to the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton (yeah, I got my full geek on that weekend). I'd never been before, and it was pretty darn cool. There were two "rides" that were pretty fun.
Here's the Enterprise 1701-D:
And the original Enterprise:
And I bought this cute shirt. :)
There was a lot of stuff to check out and I didn't have time to see it all - too bad too, because they're closing it down next month after 10 years.
I flew back home midday Sunday. Here's the four of us waiting at the airport:
Whew!
Next up, Women's Football Huddle pics. :)
