That was a nice long weekend! We had a nice, low-key Thanksgiving with my parents, grandma, aunt and uncle and cousin. My mom didn't cook too much, so we didn't really go overboard on food for once. Marc had himself a generous helping of white meat, since almost everyone else in my family, including me, prefers dark meat.
We brought Bandit with us, and he and Harvey had fun running all over the yard and getting dirty. After dinner we had dessert (we ended up with 5 pies). My ice cream pie turned out pretty well! The crust was a little thick, but was otherwise tasty. Marc doesn't even like coffee ice cream that much, but he really enjoyed the pie. After that we played some games, but I zonked out pretty early, and we ended up leaving around 10:30 or so.
We took it easy Friday - we slept in (I'd rather sleep than deal with the morning shopping crowds), hung out a bit, and then went to the mall in the afternoon. It was still pretty crowded. We went with the intention of trying to start our Christmas shopping, but ended up pretty much shopping for ourselves. In the evening we drove to Fremont and met up with Deepali, Cynthia and Steve, and Vicki and Kelly for dinner. Then we went back to Cynthia and Steve's place to watch Wall-E.
Saturday we took our little foster kitten, Uno, to the Petsmart adoption event. No luck for us, and it was even worse because we had a few kittens next to us that were getting all the attention. Uno was a bit freaked and skittish to boot.
We didn't do much in the evening - we started playing Gears of War 2 around 10pm, and ended up playing until 2:30am. Marc was actually the culprit this time! I think he's addicted now. We had fun trash-talking with each other over who got more kills each round.
Sunday was back to Petsmart. It was extremely slow, with hardly anyone even in the store. We'd started packing everything up and even had Uno in her crate when this lady and her husband (who had swung by before) came by and asked to see Uno. They decided to adopt her! I'm a little bit skeptical about the whole thing, because they have an older cat at home, so I'm not sure how they'll adjust to each other. The couple wouldn't have been my first choice for an adopting family (a few things were concerning to me), but hopefully it'll turn out okay. I think I worry about Uno more since she's the only kitten, and she was the only one in her litter, and I feel a little bit more protective of her. We'll see how it goes.
More Gears of War in the evening, and then we went to bed relatively early. Waking up this morning was not fun.
