Okay, so by now I'm sure everyone's heard about the woman that gave birth to octuplets. And the fact that she already has 6 kids. And lives with her parents. In a 3-bedroom house. And filed for bankruptcy and abadoned a home a little over a year ago. But actually, that's not even the part that bothers me.

[Edited to add stuff I forgot!]
Sorry, it's been a hectic week, so I haven't had time to blog. First, Happy Belated Chinese New Year's to everyone! Sorry, no red envelopes here (incidentally, my dad always gives Marc and I a red envelope each, and my brothers continually harass us for one since we're married, and I guess technically once you're married you're not supposed to receive them anymore, but rather give them out, but we're not following the rules, and are in no rush to change that!).
I've got a hair appointment this afternoon (finally - it's been more than forever, and my hair is a rat's nest), and I'm running an all-day experiment, and I'm hoping the two aren't going to collide in a collosal train wreck. Must finish in time!
I'm sitting here trying to analyze a large set of data, and the program I use for analysis is a resource hog, and is taking forever to do the simplest things, so here I am twiddling my thumbs while I wait for it to finish thinking. Right now it's just giving me blank windows, and I'm wondering if it's decided to just give up entirely.
I'm sitting here in my office being woefully unproductive as I wait for an antibody to be delivered. According to tracking info, it arrived at 10:20, but the distribution guy hasn't delivered it here yet. The later it gets here, the later my day is going to be. Grr.
I went through an hour of frustration yesterday while I tried to, once again, fix the stupid problem with comments. It actually works in a sense - just not the way I wish it would, and there may be no way around that. As long as people comment with the same username and e-mail address every time, it usually won't get spammed. My frustration stems mostly from when people want to change the e-mail address they use - once you're registered with a particular e-mail address, there seems to be no way to change that. I've even tried outright deleting users, but they somehow stay in the system. It's annoying as hell. Plus there are other a few other problems that I just haven't worked out and haven't had the time to. Sigh.
This week seemed to breeze by pretty quickly, which is always nice. We've got a few things to take care of around the house, so I'm looking forward to having the time on the weekend.
So the flowers and bear we got for Cynthia turned out to be quite a fiasco as we tried to get them redelivered. We called 1800flowers on Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and yesterday. Everytime we called, they told us they were going to have the florist redeliver. Never happened.
Our friend Cynthia had to have her appendix taken out last week, and was subsequently house-bound for two weeks, so to cheer her up we had a basket of flowers delivered to her. Now, the arrangement we chose also came with a stuffed teddy bear that had these cute little medical accessories.
I'm trying to get back in the habit of blogging daily, or semi-daily, even when I don't have anything interesting to say. This could be interpreted as a Good Thing or a Bad Thing. This is certainly not a promise, however, as we've seen how good I am at sticking to goals.
I almost can't muster up the energy to write, because I'm so tired. Marc came down with some sort of nasty stomach bug last night, and ended up spending most of the night running to the toilet. When he was actually in bed, he was fidgeting and moaning. I felt bad, but at around 3:30 am I finally had to go and sleep downstairs on the couch just so I could get some rest. Needless to say, waking up at 6 wasn't easy. Marc, obviously, stayed home from work today. I think the vomiting has subsided a bit, but it sounds like he's pretty weak from the ordeal.
Interrupting my vacation update for some photo catch-up. I'm really proud of myself. Finally got Photoshop installed on my laptop, and started working on pictures. I'm definitely a lot more productive when I can sit downstairs in front of the TV and work on the laptop simultaneously. I started out with the pictures I took at the Academy of Sciences on our anniversary - my Oahu pictures are older, but there are sooo many of them, that I'll need to spend more time on that.
More photos after the cut.
I'm pre-emptively breaking this up into two parts, just to keep both relatively brief. Two weeks is a lot of time to cover. First, Happy New Year everyone! I, for one, am looking forward to 2009, thanks to the magnificent suckfest that was the latter half of 2008.
