Didn't get a chance to blog during the day today, so I'm catching up tonight. It was my boss' last day at work today, so a bunch of us went out for lunch. It was kind of sad, I have to say, as he'd been my boss for almost 7 years, and we've had a good working relationship. His (now former) boss is now my boss, which I think will be fine, as I get along with her really well. It's only for 5 more months anyways.
March 2009 Archives
Marc and I got home a little late from work last night, so we pretty much just ate dinner and watched TV (although that seems to be our M.O. of late - kind of sad, really). We did have a brief interruption when our neighbor called for some IT help with their broadband - troubleshooting over the phone is suckage though, so I may have to go by their house this weekend to check it out. Also, I found one of my new fish dried up on the floor - it had jumped out of the quarantine tank. And of course, it was the more expensive one. Sigh.
Man, life is a little crazy these days. Probably explains why when I'm at home, with nothing pressing to do, all I want to do is just sit on the couch and veg. Today is a slower day at work, which is nice, because I've been running around all week. My boss's last day at work is Monday, so I'm organizing a lunch for him, and I've also got to get a card as well as some sort of gift for him tonight. And I have no idea what.
The betta I have sitting on my desk at work is a pretty demanding little guy. Every morning I come in, he starts swimming around all excitedly, puts his face up to the front, and starts gaping his mouth, like he's saying, "FEED ME." Mostly he just floats there, doing not much of anything, until I look at him, and then it's like omg he's starving.
Come to think of it, Stubby is this way too.
I had this past Friday off work, which was pretty nice. It also happened to be Marc's Friday off, so we got to hang out together, instead of me just kicking around the house by myself. Which isn't to say we did a whole lot. We did a little shopping in the morning, and napped in the afternoon. I had a hair appointment in Campbell, so I ended up being gone for about 4 hours. We had dinner when I got home, although I can't remember what it was. Oh, I think we went out for sushi.
Well, it's my Friday, at least, because I have tomorrow off, woohoo! We're also having a site party this afternoon, so I can probably leave early too (although I've got a service engineer coming out, so I may end up having to stick around). My boss is leaving in a little over a week, and I'm already starting to get pretty busy. I'll probably be maintaining two offices in two different buildings, which should be fun.
Well it's nice to be back home, but it sucks to be back at work. And I'm pretty exhausted from the weekend, or really my lack of one.
I'm flying to Seattle tonight, right after work, for a two-day conference. Which means I'll be there on a Saturday. Sucks. But I've never been to Seattle before, so I guess that will be kind of cool, and Roche is actually paying to let me travel even though I'll be persona non grata to them before this year is over.
Had a really great weekend celebrating my birthday. Turning 30 isn't that big of a deal, really, but we used it as an excuse to party anyways. :)
It's unavoidable: tomorrow I'm officially going to be in my 30s, which I really don't expect to be some traumatic event for me. It's kind of trippy to think that I've been alive for that long though.
Didn't get a chance to blog earlier today as work was kind of crazy (through no fault of my own!). So I'm writing this now as I'm watching "AI" and really not getting some of these critiques these judges are giving. Also, I think Paula is high tonight.
I'm still somewhat battling this annoying chest cough - it's a lot better than it was a few days ago, but I just can't seem to kick it completely. It probably doesn't help that my office has been freezing all week. I need to be healthy in time for my birthday this Saturday, dammit!
Today is Bandit's birthday! Our 'ol boy turns 6 today, and I know I say this every year, but I can't believe how time has flown! We should probably go get him a fancy biscuit or something as his birthday treat.
