Had a really great weekend celebrating my birthday. Turning 30 isn't that big of a deal, really, but we used it as an excuse to party anyways. :)
We went to my parents' house first on Friday night for dinner. My mom went all out - she and my dad cooked up filet mignon, baked salmon, and fresh live lobster. She also got me a nice bouquet of two dozen roses, and my aunt and brothers brought cake and cupcakes from Cold Stone. My grandmother was there too, and she wished me happy birthday and then said, "Have a baby!"
Saturday morning we got the house ready for my party - I woke up after Marc and found that he had gone and decorated the house with a bunch of "Happy 30th Birthday!" banners and had gotten 30 balloons as well. He also had a banner that said, "It Is Your Birthday." in homage to "The Office." Pretty funny.
Cynthia and Steve came over a little early to help us get stuff set up. We had rented a bounce house, so the guys dragged it into the backyard and got it set up. It just barely fit. When it was all inflated, the four of us went in there to test it out. We were having a blast bouncing around in it, but then it suddenly started to collapse! It was pretty hilarious, because started scrambling to get out. Cynthia had lost her balance and fallen on her back, and then she couldn't get up because the floor was sinking under her. Luckily, we all made it out alive. It turned out that ties on one of the exhaust/intake ports had come loose, and air was escaping. We cinched it up tight and it was fine for the rest of the night.
The bounce house was for this big boxing gloves that we had also rented (as well as for general bouncing mayhem). The gloves were huge, and heavy! I could barely lift them up to even hit anyone. We rented sumo suits too, which were hilarious. I don't think I won a single fight though, which was pretty pathetic. I AM getting old!
We had dinner and cake (amaretto cream from Prolific Oven, yummy), and had a mini Rock Band tournament. My team won, of course, since it was my birthday.
I'll have to see if I can get pictures from my neighbor. I was too busy to take any myself, and Marc was using the camcorder for most things. I had such a blast, and it was great having so many friends and family come and celebrate with us.
I slept in until 11 on Sunday, went over to Jan's to help her with some computer stuff after lunch, and then Marc and I literally napped the rest of the afternoon. We were both SO TIRED. Steve and Erin and the kids came over right before dinner to drop off a card and present for me (they couldn't make it on Saturday) - was cool to see them and get birthday hugs from the kids.
So I'm still recovering from the weekend, but it was worth it!

You both did a terrific job, it was a super fun party! Thank you! and Happy Birthday!!!!
