Well it's nice to be back home, but it sucks to be back at work. And I'm pretty exhausted from the weekend, or really my lack of one.
I left work around 3 on Thursday so that Marc could drop me off at the airport. Of course, a few things at work went wrong just before I left - it's like they know. But I got out relatively on time, and got to the airport around 4:30 for my 6 pm flight. Grabbed a bite to eat at the Chili's restaurant inside the terminal. Considered ordering a margarita, but it was like $9.
I got in to Seattle a little before 8, and took a cab to the hotel. They gave me a complimentary upgrade to a studio suite (not sure how it was different/better from a regular suite, but cool I guess) with a lake view (which ended up consisting of part of the marina and Hooters).
There were a bunch of restaurants across the street, including a crab house, which sounded good. I intended on going there, but never got the chance.
My conference ran all day Friday. Afterwards, I met up with Marian, an old friend from high school/college who lives in Seattle now. We went downtown and walked around a bit - she showed me Pike's Market, which is this famous fish market (where they toss the fish), but unfortunately it was closed at that time. We then had dinner at this Japanese restaurant and had some really good sushi.
After dinner we went to this chocolate shop that makes all sorts of gourmet hot chocolate. YUM. We chatted for a bit, then she dropped me back off at my hotel.
I slept in a bit on Saturday and skipped the first couple of talks. I also skipped the last one, as it didn't seem that interesting (my boss had already left by that point), and went to the airport early. My flight wasn't supposed to leave until 8, but Marc suggested I try to get on the earlier flight at 6. Given that mine was about 75% empty, I thought there might be a good chance I could get on the earlier flight. Sure enough, there were 47 seats open. I got an exit row seat, and as an added bonus, no one was sitting next to me. The next seat over was occupied by a Southwest airlines pilot, of all things (the flight was an Alaska Airlines flight).
So I managed to get home two hours earlier, which was nice.
Sunday morning we went down to Fremont to have lunch with my family since my uncle was in town. We waited for an hour for a table! After lunch I went to Vicki's bridal shower, which was fun.
I got home around 6 pm, and Marc cooked a pork roast for dinner. Did some chores, watched TV, and then went to bed. So tired today. Luckily, it's a short week as my company has a Spring Fling day on Friday. Woohoo!
