I Love TV

I wish I had more to blog about today, because it would make our lives seem less sad, but mostly it's going to be TV talk. I did take Bandit to his agility class after work. Poor guy hurt himself, but in that classically hilarious Bandit way.

We were doing a run where we had to go from a jump to the teeter. Our instructor, Lorie, was standing just beyond the teeter, talking over the fence to her husband. Bandit was running for the teeter, and had started to make his way up there, but I guess instead of watching where he was going, he was watching Lorie. His back feet missed the teeter, and he ended up doing a face plant on it.

Poor guy hobbled off and was limping on his back leg. I massaged his hip for a bit and then let him walk it off, and he seemed fine after a few minutes. He ended up being alright (I think he's a little sore this morning). That dog is such a klutz.

So after that I got home and had dinner, and Marc and I watched "Lost" and the very end of "AI." I hate the results show and the stupid lip-synced group numbers, so we always just fast-forward the DVR to the end to find out who gets kicked off. I called it - Megan went home. And I guessed something happened earlier that night, because Simon said to her, "You said you don't care, and we don't either." And announced that they wouldn't even bother evaluating her for saving. Which was so much awesomeness.

We watched "Lost" live (spoilers ahead), and even though it was a Kate-centric episode, I really liked it, and Kate was probably the least insufferable I've seen her in a long time. I'm glad she came back to the island for Claire and not for Sawyer (though I never figured it was him she came back for). I hope that this is the beginning of the end of the love quadrangle, but the cynical side of me says it won't be. I do think that at some point Kate and Jack are going to end up together, but it won't be until the end, because right now each of them seems to have their own personal journey to take before they can get to that point. I think Sawyer has moved on, and I think he told Kate pretty much that - he came to help Kate with Ben because Juliet asked him to, and he was doing it for her.

Even Jack wasn't as annoying last night. I'm kind of liking this new zen Jack, and even though I thought it was assholish of him not to help, I could see where he was coming from. (I think if I'd been in his shoes though, I couldn't have let the kid die.) Loved the confrontation between Jack and Juliet in the bathroom. First, naked Jack. Second, I always love when the characters have it out and actually talk about crap, because it really never seems to happen enough and it can be oh so frustrating. Elizabeth Mitchell did a great job, really heartbreaking (on a side note, I hope we get to see more Ben and Juliet, since she and Michael Emerson are probably the two best actors on the show and they've had some great scenes together). The emotions in the scene were perfect - two people who at one point had shared a really close bond and who were now thrust back together in this horrible, tense situation after 3 years apart. There was no sexual or romantic tension, but there was definitely something very personal and intimate in that exchange.

It's interesting though that Jack's decision to not help save Ben may very well be what ultimately makes him into the man he becomes. Not that Jack is the only one that is culpable - Sayid shot him first, and Juliet/Kate/Sawyer make the decision to hand him over to Richard. But in trying to let Ben die, Jack has inadvertently helped create the evil Ben. Or perhaps he really believes that "whatever happened, happened" and believes that Ben will live regardless of what he does, and he just doesn't feel like saving his life again.

I thought Juliet's epiphany was interesting too - I don't know if she believes that "whatever happened, happened," but she seemed to genuinely believe that Ben was going to die - until the realization dawned on her that the Others could maybe help him. I think in that moment she realized that this was probably what always happened, and that this was what made Ben who he became. Despite all that, she was still determined to save the kid's life.

Hurley and Miles and their whole meta conversation about time travel was great. Those two are awesome together.

Lastly, the scene at the end with Locke and Ben was fantastic. I can't wait until next week!
