I'm home, and all went well this morning! We got to the clinic at 7:15am, and they got me set up with a gown and IV and all that goodness. The anesthetic they put me on was a light IV sedation, and not a full general, although it all seemed the same to me. I woke up as they were rolling me out of the operating room, they asked me a couple of questions, and then told me I could go back to sleep, which I was grateful for as I was pretty tired.
A short while later Marc was able to come back to see me. Then my doctor came over to tell us that they'd managed to retrieve 25 eggs, which is a good number. Some won't be mature and won't fertilize, but she expect around 12 or so to fertilize. We'll know the actual numbers tomorrow. For our particular type of IVF, they have to do a procedure called ICSI (intra cellular sperm injection), where they inject a single sperm into each egg to fertilize it (rather than just mixing them all together). Since we're doing DNA testing, they have to be sure there isn't any DNA from errant sperm on the embryo.
Before we left, the nurse had to mark my butt. Literally, she took a magic marker and drew two circles on my butt cheeks so that Marc will know where to administer the progesterone shots, which start tonight.
So for the rest of today I'm just taking it easy, and I can go back to work tomorrow. Thursday will be the embryo biopsy, and Saturday will be the transfer. Exciting!

Good luck to both of you!!!
