Big Day

Today was transfer day! I'm sitting at home now, resting and letting Marc wait on me hand and foot.

We went in at 10am this morning, after I'd had 32 ounces of water to drink. My bladder ended up filling really slowly, so they had me drink two more cups at the clinic, so I think it was almost noon before the transfer finally happened.

We transferred one embryo, because that's all we ended up with out of the 12. Not the best news, unfortunately. We had five that were affected or abnormal, and we lost a few that for some reason stopped developing. A couple more were lost due to the lab not being able to conclusively test the DNA. Our doctor said this was very unusual, and that she'd expected us to have at least three that were good, unaffected embryos.

The two with the inconclusive results they're going to try to rebiopsy tomorrow and freeze down. Our doctor didn't really have an explanation for why things turned out so screwy, but if we have to go through with another cycle she said they'll probably take a look at my stimulation protocol - the stimulations can sometimes stress the eggs, and different women respond differently.

But, we have the one, and I'm hoping like hell it sticks. They even gave us a picture of it. Marc and Bonnie's Embryo #5. So, I'm trying to stay positive and hope for the best.

The procedure itself wasn't that bad, except for the full bladder part. It only took about 10 minutes to do the transfer, and it was cool because we could watch it on the ultrasound. I was able to get up 5 minutes afterwards to pee too, thankfully.

So we won't know anything until June 1st, when I'll go in for a pregnancy test. Fingers crossed.
