Came home yesterday and was surprised by balloons and a card that Erin and the kids had thoughtfully dropped off on our front porch to help cheer me up, which it definitely did. I'm feeling better today, and am mostly just anxious now to see what my doctor says when we meet, and hoping they'll be able to come up with a better plan. We'll get there.
We bought a new HD DVR receiver over the weekend, and I called DirecTV to set it up. It kept giving me errors during the satellite setup, and the lady I was talking to tried to walk me through all sorts of different setups and whatnot, but to no avail. No matter what we did, it kept saying there were errors. I ended up being on the phone with this lady for I think an hour and a half. Since we kept having to wait for it to run tests, there was a lot of downtime, and so we were chit-chatting about things like the weather, the beach, etc.
I ran back and forth between upstairs and downstairs, checking the other receivers - we knew the dish was fine, as all our other receivers were working fine. I tried swapping out all the B-band convertors. No luck. I was so freaking tired at this point. She finally decided that we must have gotten a bum receiver, and her suggestion was to take it back and exchange it. So the next day, we went to Best Buy and swapped for a different one.
I called DirecTV again. Got a different person this time. Ran through the setup procedure, and got errors once again. WTF. I told the guy the whole story, how I'd had these errors the day before with a different one, blah blah blah. And he says, "Oh, just go ahead and press 'Continue.' These HD DVRs always give those errors, but they don't mean anything. I'm sorry the person yesterday didn't tell you that."
What. The. Bloody. Hell.
I pressed "Continue." The receiver finished the setup process, and boom, we had TV.
Someone over there needs to send out a memo.
WTBH indeed!!!! I hate stuff like that.
