Weekend Bits

Marc and I were watching an old episode of "Law & Order: SVU" the other night, and there was this lady who was guest-starring in the episode. Marc kept saying that he knew the lady from somewhere, that she looked really familiar. It was bugging him like crazy, so I finally went to IMDB to look her up, and this woman had this ridiculously long filmography - like, she's guest-starred in just about everything, and it wasn't until I got to the 68th, and last, entry that I discovered that she'd played the stewardess in Airplane.

Marc was like, "THAT'S WHERE I KNOW HER FROM! I KNEW IT!" And it was hilarious, because Marc never recognizes actors/actresses in anything, even if they're from shows that we watch on a regular basis, and yet he somehow recognized this woman from this inane 30-year-old movie.

Anyways, we had a pretty good weekend. I went to play poker Friday night after work and left Marc to fend for himself. Poker night is funny - our friend (old herding trainer) Jan organizes it, so it's me and a bunch of ladies that are 20-30 years older than me having pizza, drinking margaritas and playing poker. They're fun to hang out with though. I won last time, but lost badly this time.

Saturday we drove to my work, which was hosting a "Family Fun Day." It's mostly for people and their kids, but my boss talked me into going. We hung out for just a little while - had lunch and kettle corn, and went in the bounce house and down the big inflatable slide. They even had a petting zoo and pony rides. Kind of fun, although not so much for us grown-up kids to do.

We rented Revolutionary Road and stayed in to watch it - good movie, but so, so depressing. As I told Cynthia, the only way that movie could've been more depressing would be if they'd drowned a puppy in it. So I'm glad I watched it, but I don't think I could watch it again.

Sunday we went to dim sum with my family for Father's Day (and of course it came with the requisite drama). Went back to my parents' place afterwards so my dad could open his gifts (we ordered him a barbecue tool set and also got him a gift card to Lowe's, as he's redoing their deck, and we figured he could use it for nails, or something).

That's about it - work is super slow today. Gotta find something to be busy with.
