I really shouldn't blog when I'm tired and ready for bed, because it ends up being less stream-of-conciousness and more of a struggle, and that makes for lousy writing (not that any of this is great). Trying to remember and recap an entire weekend when your brain is half off is no joy either.
So work is a bit annoying these days. My old boss, who is in New Jersey now, offered to come back out here to help me get the lab packed and cleaned up for the upcoming move. The subtext of it was that he was more than happy to help, mostly because he'd love any excuse to come back home for a bit. Which was fine with me - I could do it all myself, but I figured there were some things left in the lab that he might want to have moved to Jersey, so I said if they wanted to send him out so he could identify it all, it would be worthwhile.
Well I talked to him yesterday, and he said he was approached by his boss, who wanted to see if he really did need to come out, and somehow, his boss had gotten the impression that I was somehow unqualified to handle the shutdown of the lab, when in fact I had indicated no such thing. So I'm pretty pissed and annoyed that my reputation is being mangled by some sort of miscommunication all stemming from trying to do my old boss a favor, and now I have to figure out how to clear it up.
I did get one good piece of news the other day, when I found out that a paper that my name is on got accepted for publication. I didn't write the paper, but I'm listed as the second author, as I did a fair amount of work for the project. So it's kind of a cool thing I can put on my resume now.
Marc and I changed our flight returning from Comic Con - we decided to fly back into Oakland, so that we wouldn't have to deal with leaving a car at San Jose and whatnot. It's a slightly later flight, which means that we won't be in quite as much of a rush to leave the Con (although I'll still miss the autograph session). The No Doubt concert doesn't actually start until 7:30, and they probably won't be on stage until 9:30. Our flight gets into Oakland at 7:35, so we should have plenty of time to get there before they go on. Paramore is opening for them, and I don't really mind if I miss that. I think the anticipation of this day is the only thing keeping me sane right now!

Ugh! That sucks! Your old boss owes it to you to clear this up, and make it clear that there are items that were not determined which lab they were going to move to, and his trip was to work on that aspect, since he is known to stay with the company post move.
Good luck Bonz!
