Let's Hope Two Is Our Lucky Number

I am officially one day post transfer today. Yup, we made it to transfer, and even better, we were able to transfer two embryos. We actually, surprisingly, had 4 normal ones that made it to Sunday (day 5). The downside is that all were lagging a bit in development - they chose the two best ones, however, and we decided to let the other two try to grow one more day to see if we could freeze them. I admit I was tempted to ask if they should just transfer all 4 of them, you know, for insurance, heh.

All 8 of them seem to have made it to day 5, which was definitely better than last time, where we had a bunch that didn't make it that far. We also got DNA results back on all of them, which was also a lot better than last time. We had a 50/50 split on them, 4 affected, 4 normal.

The two that we tried to culture one more day unfortunately stopped growing today, so we ended up with nothing left to freeze. The doctor had indicated it was probably a long shot - they were even further behind, and I think 6 days of culture is tough enough as is. Crossing fingers and hoping that the two we transferred are happier back in my body and will implant!

The transfer itself went pretty smoothly, except that they were behind schedule a bit, and we ended up having to wait 45 minutes past our appointment time. Which normally wouldn't be too bad, except that I had a really full bladder the whole time. They kept letting me empty it a little bit every so often, but it seemed to just keep filling up right away. It felt like I'd emptied almost a full bladder's worth by the time we got to the transfer, and even then they still said my bladder size was impressive, lol.

So I've basically been resting these past two days, and Marc's been taking care of me. It'll be kinda nice to be able to walk around again tomorrow. I love napping and sitting on my ass as much as the next person, but even I have my limits.

So we're cautiously excited, I guess. My blood test is next Tuesday, and that's when we'll find out. Things at least seem to have gone much better this cycle than the last, so we just have to hope that does the trick and these little guys stick. :)
